New assessment please

Hi Dr Bland
I had surgery on my left wrist back in January 2014, I'm glad to say it was a great success.
My right wrist is now playing up, waking me up most nights with pain and numbness from my upper arm down to my fingertips.
Do I need to go back to my GP to get a referral? or is it possible for you to arrange for an assessment.
Thanks for your time

If it's recognisably the same problem in the right hand then I can just deal with it without bothering your GP. I'll send an appointment out and we will re-assess your nerve conduction studies and arrange some treatment. I think it will probably be about 4 weeks though (unless I can find a space created by a cancellation) - we lose a lot of clinics to holidays and bank holidays around this time of year). In the meantime, do you have a splint for the right hand? JB

thanks for the prompt reply, it certainly seems the same as before. It would be good to have it looked at again. No, I have not got a splint for my right hand.
Thanks

You can drop in to the department and collect a splint more or less anytime in working hours - or they can be picked up from amazon provided you know what you are looking for. That may provide some relief while waiting for us. I'll send out an appointment.JB
