steroid injection in November

Good afternoon, I had a steroid iinjection in November in my Right wrist which seemed to help for a while but over last few weeks the symptoms have began to creep back and both hands feel painful and if I clench them I feel the pain in all my fingers, the fizzy feeling and numbness are coming back also. I do wear my splints some nights when my hands feel painful after using them all day.

Unfortunately I have 4 Alison Wood's in the records - if you give me the last three letters of your postcode that should tell me which one you are. JB

OK That was a grade 3 CTS. It sounds as though you might be a partial responder to that dose. We have two options really - we can give up and list you for surgery (Likely to take place about March/April we think - though it's a bit of a guess depending on the pandemic), or we can try a second injection - there is limited evidence in the scientific literature to suggest that a second or double dose might be more effective in some people. That could be done this coming week. What do you think? JB

Good morning, I would like to try a second injection in the right wrist , I know its not guaranteed to work as you've said but I am willing to give it a go if possible please. My left hand does appear to be causing me discomfort too ?

I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my left wrist and last week I felt something pop and a small lump appeared followed by bruising on the inside of wrist in area of carpal , unsure if linked to carpal tunnel or not, I have been wearing splints but still wake daily with numbness. Right wrist where I've had two steroid injections does also show signs of numbness occasionally.

A rapidly appearing lump is probably most likely to be a ganglion cyst if there has not been an obvious injury to cause local swelling. We should see you again and see what is going on. I've sent out an appointment for 30th June. Between now and then could you do me a favour and add a new severity score the records here on the website please. JB

Received the appointment letter this morning thank you, I appreciate you seeing me again, I had no injury or lump but felt a pop and then the swelling and bruising. I did take a photo so will bring it with me.to appointment if that helps at all. I will now do a severity questionnaire as requested. Thanks again

Good evening since I had an injection in both wrists on the 30th June still get pins and needles and numbness some mornings even when wearing my splints, it's manageable at the moment as its not every morning. I will get in touch if it becomes unbearable again.
