Hi Dr Bland ,sorry its taken so long to complete this time flies by.There doesn't seem to be much improvment in the last 6 weeks since i saw you my left hand seems to be the better of the two just mild weekness but only occasional numbness, but my right hand is feeling the same if not worse my ring and middle finger is numb and tingling all day with loss of sensation and sometimes painful if i hold something wrong ,my middle and ring finger is numb down to the second knuckle,i have to flex my fingers a few times to relive some of the numbness
I will complete the questionaire again in a week but i dont hold out for any improvment ,look forward to hearing from you
cheers Julie

It's rather looking as though the only option may be to operate on this. Do you want to test it again just to check whether it is objectively improving or deteriorating? We could test it after I get back from the AANEM meeting - which would be late September so that would be a gap of about 10 weeks since we last checked - which should be long enough to see which way it is going. Hi Dr Bland i think that sounds like a good plan it would be good to see if it has improved or not as i still cant feel anything i touch with my middle and ring finger .
Late sept or early Oct is great do i wait for you to set up an appointment for me

Hi Dr Bland ,i am coming to the end of my 12 week recovery and although i have seen improvements i am still in quite a bit of pain my hand is tender to the touch if i catch it the pain makes me cry ,i have some trouble with grip and it seems to ache a lot of the time ,and the middle finger does feel a little numb and tingly is this just the recovery taking longer or should i see you or my doctor
Thanks
Julie Bailey

As you will have realised by now, unsatisfactory outcomes after carpal tunnel surgery are something of a special interest of mine so I would like to see you myself really. Local tenderness around the scar is quite common but you can be fairly optimistic about it improving eventually. Continuing sensory symptoms in the fingers are more worrying and we will test nerve conduction again to see if it has improved. I will try to get an appointment sent out for after Easter. JB
