Being told its carpal Tunnel buti am unsure

Bit of history:
I screen print for a living, alot of pressure goes through my wrist and hands whilst doing this.

Approx 3 months ago I used a pressure washer for hours, after I had an ache in right hand, not so unusual. Normally this would go, its been pretty consistent since. Pain in wrist (ache) pain ontop my hand, swelling ontop my hand in little spot just down from my first and second knuckle (makes my hand feel very stiff like cramps, I find rubbing it makes it feel better).

My hand feels weak, poor grip and the swelling comes and goes. Ache in my hand wakes me at night plus my forearm aches.

I've seen my GP twice, first Dr said it didn't look like RA but couldn't say what it was, seconds GP said it was carpel tunnel. 8m really not too sure what to think.

Does carpel tunnel come with swelling in the hand?

I am hypothyroid, tad overweight,my grandma had RA, right hand is dominat hand.

I've been told to get a splint and wear at night and if still have pain in 6 weeks go back. I've had no further tests.

Any help much appreciated.

CTS does not usually cause visible swelling so no it doesn't immediately sound like CTS. If you run through the website questionnaire that will give you a fairly realistic estimate of the probability that the problem is CTS - probably more accurate than any GP. JB

Thank you so much.
Result was 6%.
I guess I will give it few more weeks to see if it goes then refer back to GP.

Thanks for this site and your help, much appreciated

You're welcome. Let me know if a final diagnosis is reached please. I always like to hear the outcomes, especially for the fairly modest number where the questionnaire turns out to be wrong as I'm always checking for what features might cause it to miss a CTS case. JB
