Involuntary forefinger and thumb movement

Hi. I was treated by you, by means of steroid injections probably 6 months ago. All pain, including elbow pain that I had, disappeared for a couple of weeks. Other than that, the tingling etc returned to my hands probably 6 weeks later.

More alarmingly, over the last 2 months, I have started to develop an "involuntary movement" in my left forefinger. At first, it was the muscle between the fore finger and thumb, we created a situation where both indexes moved in, towards each other. Now, it seems to be just the forefinger. I have video available, If you tell me where to send it. Yesterday, I didn't receive the involuntary movement but instead, I was feeling a vibrating sensation moving from my wrist, across my left palm towards my little finger.

I have a GP appointment, coincidentally on the 30th. At the age of 52, I am concerned about this and to be honest with you, I would be delighted if I thought it was the Carpal Tunnel causing it! Any advice or thoughts?

Probably best if I could see that - could you drop in on Friday 27th December? JB

Okay. I am back to work on Thursday, to establish the practicality of taking the day off. I saw my GP and he thinks that it is a trapped nerve in my elbow?

Unlikely to cause involuntary movements in the hand I have to say. Is it still going on? JB

Hi JB. Sorry for the delay. It hasn't done it for the last 3 or 4 days. What would you prefer me to do? Still come in on the 27th or wait until it starts again?

27th was 27th December! :-)  If it seems to have stopped for now I would forget about it for the moment. If it starts off again with another prolonged episode let me know on here and if it's a weekday I will probably arrange to look at it either that day or the next. There's not much point dragging you in to Canterbury if it's gone away though. JB

LOL. Christmas eh? I didn't think you would have been in. I had a few little twitches today but not the same strength, so I wont do anything for the time being but I will be in touch, if I have another prolonged episode. Thanks for responding...….. far quicker than I expected.
