Dear Mr Bland,
I have now had 2 injections and they have both only lasted 3/4 months. Really need to sort out what will be the next step please.
Many thanks,
Maxine Hillier

It sounds as though we are heading for surgery. Your most recent nerve conduction studies were Spetember last year so we should probably bring them up to date, just so that we know exactly what we are dealing with before taking a knife to it. We would probably be looking at surgery sometime during May in Herne Bay. I can book a surgery slot now if you like and then aim to test sometime between now and the surgery appointment. You can read all about the likely outcomes of surgery on here and there are descriptions of what to expect and even a few photographs so have a browse round the site and then come back to me with any questions. Thank you for your reply. If you think this is the way to go then please go ahead a book an appointment for me. I will check out the site as you recommend. Look forward to hearing from you soon. MH

If you have no holiday plans for May I'll book you a surgery slot then. It will be three appointments with two week gaps between them - for pre-op assessment, surgery and stitch removal. I'll post you the dates as I don't like to make public on here exact times when people will be out of action. Make sure you read the pages on surgery and surgical prognosis. There is also a page of information specifically for patients having surgery in Whitstable/Herne Bay. JB

Both follow-up EMG and a provisional surgery date are now booked and letters should be in the post somewhere. JB

Dr Bland,
I have read all the information and found it to be very helpful. I am a hairdresser & beauty therapist, running my own business, so I was wondering how long it will be before I will be able to carry out my normal work duties? More the hairdressing side.

Two weeks would be about average if all goes well. JB

Dr Bland,
I have recieved both letters now, the first appointment for the test to be done (originally 12th April) I have had to change because of work. I rang to get another one and could only get 10th May. The surgery appointment has come through for the 19th May, is this enough time between as the pre-op visit is on the 5th May. MH

Yes that will be fine, just as long as we have an up to date record before surgery so that we have something valid to compare with if there should turn out to be any problems with surgery. JB
