Do I need to come to your clinic?

Hi Dr Bland. Saw you Last in January 2021 and was experiencing severe pain in left hand and numbness at night In both. I did have injections on both as mild/mod CTS but after discussion at appointment it appears it was probable arthritis in thumb joint on left hand, however bonus of injection is the pain went away. This returned about 6 weeks ago and my Gp has prescribed Meloxicam and was arranging for steroid injection. I was asked when rescheduling the cancelled steroid appointment if i was coming to your clinic so thought I’d better check with you before rebooking with the surgery. I only have mild cts symptoms (pins and needles) at the moment and am using wrist support at night which seems to sort the numbness which I’ve had about 3 weeks.

I guess the question is what are they planning to inject. If they are doing the thumb joint itself then that is an injection that we don't do. JB

Thank you I’ll find out tomorrow, I wasn’t sure if it would interfere with anything done by your clinic.

It may be a bit late now but it's always worth trying to get a written note of what has been injected, into where, and by who. JB

As I could not get an answer as to where the injection would be, before making another appointment I decided to try the anti-inflammatories, essential oil rubs and night time continual use of wrist braces in various combinations to see if any change . Sadly hot and although this tread was started by pain in thumb joint, since then I am having continual issues with wrist and palm aches in both hands. Especially after any prolonged use of hands. I have done another assessment. Yesterday for the first time I experienced continual pins and needles in my right hand while driving. Changes in position of holding steering wheel made no difference.

We'd better re-test you and see how bad the CTS element of this is now. I;ve sent out an appointment for 11th November. JB
