worsening symptoms

Thank you - I have just received my appointment date for 15 May for further tests following return of symptoms after injections in August. My symptoms seem to be getting worse quite quickly and this is worrying me and getting me down. I know the appointment is only a couple of weeks away but if there are any earlier cancellations perhaps you could let me know? Many thanks Lindsay

It's not very likely that I will find a cancellation before then but you never know - what we tend to get within 2 weeks is people simply not turning up - by which time it is too late to replace them with an out-patient, though we do sometimes manage to use those spaces for in-patient tests. JB

Thank you for your quick reply. 2 weeks is not that long to wait I know, I just had a bit of a wobble this morning! L

I am coming for my appointment on Tuesday - do I need to complete the questionnaire again? - if so I am not sure how to do this as the completed saved one from the first time is still there. Will be glad to see you as my symptoms are definately getting worse. Lindsay.

Just drop in to the 'My CTS' - 'My CTS Record' section of the site and choose the  'Take a new severity score test' option. This will just repeat the final section of the questionnaire without asking you again about all the stuff which is not likely to have changed much. JB

Hello Dr Bland
Further to our discussion at my appointment this afternoon I would like to come in this Thursday morning to have the steroid injections in both of my wrists. I will come in at 9 and be prepared to wait until I can be fitted in. Do I just report to reception and explain on arrival? Many thanks for this. Lindsay

Hello Dr Bland
Thanks for fitting me in for the injections on Thursday. I am just reporting back as requested. My hands have definately improved following the injections but are not as good as the last time I had the injections (after which I was symptom free), at the moment anyway. I still have some tingling. This is particularly in my left hand middle and fourth finger at the ends of the fingers and is almost constant in these fingers. I am no longer woken with pain but there is tingling and numbness in both hands first thing in the morning and occasionally during the day. Do you think this is likely to improve? or get worse?! It is certainly tolerable as it is so much better than before but worrying if it were to get worse again. Lindsay

The last patient we had with a similar story continued to get better over the next few days so I will stick with my view, for the moment at least, that a good time to judge the initial effect of injection is at 6 weeks. I am interested in what happens in between however so thankyou for the update. It may be of course that we end up operating but I do not think there is any need to rush into surgery. JB
