After injection

Had the injection 30/04/12 in Folkestone. I am in quite alot of pain in my left hand, numb and tingling even after 5 days, have been off work since injections. Finding it hard to do anything! Constantly in pain and uncomfortable. How long after injection should I be feeling like this?

It should not be like that after 5 days. A few questions I'm afraid - who did them, was it both sides, and what happened at the time of the injection, ie what did you feel when the needle was inserted, when the injection went in, and in the few hours immediately afterwards. What has happened to the original CTS symptoms and are both hands the same. A good way of letting me see how the symptom pattern has changed is to repeat the severity questionnaire on here (go to 'add a new severity questionnaire' on the My CTS pages). I may well need to see you so when are you free this coming week? JB

Dr Beach, at Sandgate Surgery in Folkestone. Yes, I had both wrists injected. My right wrist was done first which was extremely painful, bruising straight away, still very bruised, but not much pain, this wrist seems ok. Not too painful at all, this one seems much better.

My left wrist was done after, there was no pain in this wrist until we were leaving Folkestone. There has not been any bruising to this wrist, just constant pain, tingling and numbness. Went and saw my own GP on the Wednesday, as still in pain, she said that they were not infected and to keep on taking paracetamol with caffeine as I cant take any codine based medication, for pain relief.

I will redo the questionnaire. I am back to work on Tuesday, but can organise time off. Just let me know when you would like me to come over.

Thanks for the repeat questionnaire. We have another problem injection to be reviewed which I am hoping to see early on Tuesday morning so we could try to do both cases together. I will try to get to the office by 8:30 am so perhaps you could come and see me before heading in to work? JB

Thank you. I will be there between 8.30 - 9.00am, as will be travelling by bus. Thank you for your help.

Not sure I will necessarily be able to do anything but we'll see if there are any clues to what is wrong about this one. See you Tuesday. JB

Had some pain last night before bed, which I eased by heat pads. Woke this morning (with splint on) with pins and needles in my thumb, index finger and middle finger. All seems ok at the moment. Will see how they go after being at work all day today.
