Hi Dr Bland

Just letting you know how I've got on after my steriod injection on the 17th May 2012. First couple of nights seemed Ok but am now back to pins and needles / numbness in my left hand. Although so far it is not as bad as before the injection (still continues in the right but have had no treatment on this hand). Saw my GP for something unrelated and he mentioned that a second injection is sometimes preformed ? Hoping we can find a solution.

Michelle

PS. Sorry if you've go this twice. It's my first posting and was not sure where to post.

I still worry that there may be some problem other than CTS here - the symptoms were not very typical anyway and the neurophysiological abnormality very mild. Give it another week and then add another symptom severity questionnaire here please (go to My CTS - My CTS record and select 'Take a new severity score test') so that I can see what has changed please. Then add a comment here to let me know that you have done that and we will decide what to do next. I will delete the duplicate entry in the other forum. JB

Will do. Do you have an idea of what it could be if not CTS ? Sorry I forgot to mention that I seem to be getting more twanging / pinging in the left wrist since the injection. Many thanks

The next commonest cause of tingling is irritation of the nerve roots at neck level but there are few other possibilities too. The curious description of 'twanging' is common enough that I put a paragraph about it in one of the web pages here - I am not at all sure what it represents but it seems to be quite common in CTS patients, both before and after treatment.
