Numbness still the same after surgery

Hello. I had endo CT’s release surgery on 1/21/2022 on my left hand. My major issue prior to surgery was the my index finger n thumb have been numb and tingling since September. I went to a very known surgeon and prior to surgery had everything checked from my neck down to eliminate any other possibility. After surgery my index n thumb feel the same. It’s only been a day but I feel no change. I asked dr immediately after surgery post op and he said it was the meds they numbed my hand up.

I go back in a few days fir a follow up but was curious if this is to be expected. I’m a musician and this whole experience has been daunting to say the least. Any info is appreciated.

I was hoping ide see a change immediately, any change.

I hope they did some nerve conduction studies before surgery so that we know how severely the nerve was damaged before they operated on it? The local anaesthetics used for carpal tunnel surgery are similar to the ones used for dentistry - ie they shold wear off in a few hours - certainly by the following day. If you operate on mild to moderate CTS people usually feel an immediate benefit within hours of surgery but more sever cases can be slow to recover. JB

Hi, thank you for your response. I did have emg done. My index n thumb were numb since sept. I tried 2 cortisone shots to no avail. My hand feels ok but I still have the same numbness/ tingling as before surgery. Is this common

I'm guessing this is the USA - do you have a copy of the pre-operative EMG so we can see how bad it was? JB
