Pain Years After CTS

Several years after my CTS on my right hand which totally eliminated my numbness and tingling I have been dealing with pain that started happening sporadically in the top of my wrist and occasionally losing the strength to either grab or hold on to things. It has now progressed to an every day thing (going on 3 weeks now) with my pain level sky rocketing to a 10+ Most of the day. There is pain that radiates up to my shoulder when it gets really bad and my wrist aches like a tooth ache too. When it hurts like this, it’’s impossible for me to pick up anything and I can barely move my blanket at night with that hand. I work a full time job as a data entry clerk which doesn’t necessarily help things and I’m also a Child Passenger Safety Tech that requires me to teach parents correct installation of various car seats. As I type this, I’m in quite a bit of pain but I need help and advice. I would love some answers as to what could be going on. I was told when I had testing done on my right hand that I have “baby” carpel tunnel on my left hand that didn’t require surgery at that time but it has since gotten significantly worse. Can you shed some light on my situation? Please and thank you!

The right hand sounds like a new and different problem, possibly a form of tenosynovitis or degenerative arthritis in the small joints of the wrist. That one needs a hand surgeon to look at it I think. The left side CTS is not unexpected - most patients with CTS do get it in both hands eventualy with the dominant hand usually leading the way. JB

Thanks for the reply! I’m getting in touch with a hand surgeon tomorrow. I’ll update here as to what he says. Much appreciated!
