Trigger finger?

Hi, I had carpal tunnel release surgery last year on both hands. My left middle finger is extremely painful and the pad on my palm. In the morning my finger is completely stuck bent and incredibly painful, the stiffness reduces slightly and I can click it straight but it is so painful. It is now affecting my daily life as I'm finding it hard to do things. I'm having no luck getting through to my gp about this, it seems, really hard to get an appointment.
Any suggestions please? This is driving me mad. Thanks so much. Laura.x.

Hi Laura, it is classic trigger finger symptoms. I'm afraid your first port of call is your GP. A simple steroid injection is usually very effective in relieving the symptoms and your GP will often do this for you in the surgery or refer you to an extended scope physiotherapist. Rarely the condition requires a small operation not dissimilar to your carpal tunnel surgery.
Hope that helps.
Nick
