I am having injections in both hands next monday but since i saw you 3 weeks ago the pain in my lower arms upto my elbows has become unbearable at night the only relief i get is by walking about as soon as i sit or lie down the pain returns is this common? I am having the op on my left hand on Dec1st and it cant come quick enough

Not that uncommon a story I'm afraid. A few patients do seem to get quite extreme pain and it is by no means clear what makes those patients different from other patients with apparently similar CTS. There are papers suggesting that it is all due to psychosocial differences in pain perception but I'm not sure they really hold water. We can bring forward the Dec 1st operation to this Saturday if you are able to make that - see the announcements page. We could still inject the unoperated side. JB
