It's god to hear from someone who is responding well to splinting so far and the response does provide some support for the idea that your problem really is CTS, though the involvement of the little finger remains odd and I think there probably is something else going on as well. Are the symptoms at present a significant problem such that you want something else doing by way of treatment?

I will move this thread into the Canterbury patients forum once you have had a chance to see this reply. JB

It's still hard to be sure how much of this is CTS and how much due to other causes. If the hands are bothering you enough to be worth it overall we could try the effect of a steroid injection - given that there does seem to have been some response to splinting. You can read all about injections on here and then let me know if you want to try it. JB

I would like to try the steroid injection, but i am worried about side effects.

Steroid side effects from injecting the carpal tunnel are almost unknown and the only well documented serious complications are very rare indeed so I do not let them worry me - just keep the risks in proportion - you have to remember that the alternative is surgery with a roughly 5% serious complication rate.
