Fao Dr Bland,

Hello there, i had a follow up appointment with you yesterday, after giving what we spoke about some thought, i do not want the steroid injections, we spoke of 2 options, the alternative was surgery, which i think would be the better option.

As i work seasonal work only, my time off is half way through November to January, so about this time would be better for my operation, thank you

That's fine as long as you are happy with the small risk of surgery. I can arrange surgery in mid-November in Herne Bay if someone can get you there (you will not of course be able to drive yourself). Going there gives us the most control over the date of operation. You might also like to consider injection while waiting if we are going to delay surgery for 3 months. Let me know if you can manage Herne Bay on a Saturday in November and I will se what I can book. Hi there, thank you for your reply, i think i will go ahead with the steroid injections, and will let you know how i do before booking me in for any surgery at present.

If we may need a surgery slot in mid-November we will probably need to book it in the next 3-4 weeks so it might be worth reserving one fairly soon if that timing is importatnt to you. We can always cancel it if it turns out not to be needed.JB

hi there, i have been given a date of 12th October for my steroid injection. I havn't been woken up in pain in the night since March, i do feel an improvement, although my fingers are slightly numb, they only get very numb when ironing or using the same hand for long periods. Do you think i should still go ahead with the injection as i am not sure if i need to? many thanks

Well the right hand results at least were improving compared with the previous studies so your impression may well be right.... but nevertheless it still is quite a bad CTS and if you are getting daytime symptoms I would be inclined to go ahead with injection if it were me - just for the right hand. In the end however it has to be your decision,
