Improvement after using splints
My symptoms have virtually disappeared after using the splints, I am sleeping through the night with no tingling in the mornings have not worn the splints for the past four nights, there is a slight tingling when I am on the computer or when I am using my hands but this is not causing any real pain.
I have an appointment on the 16th November for steroid injection should I cancel this.
Thank you
Splint worked second time round, op not needed
After coming for the consultation in July, I decided to re-try the splint that you asked about but had not seemed to work when I tried it before. I had changed my mouse to a thumb ball type one in the meantime. I put the hand in the splint on a pillow to the side, and this time it seems to have been really sucessful. Perhaps it was the combination of mouse change and splint.
As a result of the improvement I did not have the injection and now presume I should cancel the operation. Can I do that via this message?
After four weeks of using splints...
I have been wearing the splints at night now for four weeks. Finally I have known the joy of uninterrupted sleep! However, although I am no longer being woken up during the night by any numbness, when I wake up normaly in the morning, the tingling and numbness starts (even with the splints on, in both hands) and continues for about ten minutes or so after I take the splints off.
Should I continue with the splints for a bit longer?
Many thanks.

CTS Injection on 2 August 2011 ... Further Update
Hello Dr Bland,
Since my last update, I have been experiencing sporadic returns of CTS symptoms. These have been relatively minor and only occasional. I wonder if you could enlighten me as to the advisability and potential benefit of having another injection. If indeed you do recommend another injection, what would be the appropriate timescale? As a matter of fact, I do have a follow-up appointment with Dr Biggs on the 4th October. Would this be a suitable time for another injection?
Kind regards.

Hi Dr Bland ,sorry its taken so long to complete this time flies by.There doesn't seem to be much improvment in the last 6 weeks since i saw you my left hand seems to be the better of the two just mild weekness but only occasional numbness, but my right hand is feeling the same if not worse my ring and middle finger is numb and tingling all day with loss of sensation and sometimes painful if i hold something wrong ,my middle and ring finger is numb down to the second knuckle,i have to flex my fingers a few times to relive some of the numbness

I have tried the splints you gav me on the 26 July for amonth. I am afraid I do not feel any better- I think my hands are slightly worse than when I visited you one month ago. I am asking if I can be considered for injections as the next option you suggested. Can this procedure be done locally ie in the Canterbury area?. LC Taylor
