Report of splint use

After using the splint everynight since you gave it to me on 21/11/2011 the tingling in my thumb has now gone completely. I'am only using the splint now a couple of times aweek.

i really need your help my hands are getting worse and the splints dont help at all if any thing they make it worse i was told toemail the doctor i saw how do i do that he said he could arrange for a custom made splint for me thank jennie clark

After surgery

I am very please with the results of my surgery on my hand it is healing well, the operation took place at the QMQE hospital in Margate under Doctor Smith, his team were great and looked after me very well. I followed their instructions for after op care and you must take care to follow there instructions as the healing process is helped by using creams to keep the wound supple. I used E45 and Aqueous creams they are the best, I did use Bio oil but found that it dried the wound to much the key is to keep it moist and these creams do just that.

Symptoms have increased

Since my nerve study test yesterday, my symptoms have increased dramatically. I had a very disturbed sleep last night, despite wearing both splints, last evening was also difficult.How long will it take to settle down?

Having tests today

Hello,

I'm coming for tests today but I have a strong suspicion that my problems are to do with my spine and not CTS.

I have scoliosis of the spine (s curve) and at night both arms go completly numb, including my little finger. During the day my right hand is colder than the left and this hand is very weak and the one that gives me pain. If I type for too long my fingers get painful, curl up and go stiff. I also suffer from twitching/muscle spasms which hand led to objects flying out of my hands.

Progress report using the splint

After using the splint every night whilst sleeping from 11pm to 7.30am for two weeks, there has been some improvement. I have not has a tingling sensation for over ten days, the pain has gone, and I am able to use my hand for the tasks I found difficult which was discussed during my appointment.

I will continue with the splint for a further two weeks, and report back again at this point.

return of symptoms in both hands

Hi Dr Bland

I'm sorry to say that I've hand a return of symptoms in both hands. I had both wrists injected last December with good results - my right wrist was symptom free until about July and the left wrist until about a month ago. The injection in the right wrist was repeated early September but I was only symptom free for about 8 weeks. I don't have any problems in the daytime, but am awoken several times most nights. Can I have the injections repeated?
