Injection update
Dear Doctor Bland Just to update you thet Audrey Jackson will be having her second injection on Tuesday 5th of March with Doctor Miles at Wye. I will keep you informed on her progress.
Cortisone injection
Dr Bland
I had the injections on the 6th February by Dr Miles but it does not seem to have made any difference to either hand.
I have contacted the Referral management Centre who have made a follow up appointment with Dr Fox at Wye Surgery for the 28th march.
Do I need to come back and see yourself or do I wait until I have seen Dr Fox.
Regards,
Brian smith
using wrist splints 4 weeks from appointment
I have now been using both on right and left arm and it has taken all of the pain away at night time and I only experience some daytime pain in my right hand. Sofar a great improvement. Not sure whether this will have to be a permanent thing of having to wear splints but after 7 plus years of pain, it feels great. The only thing I have now is muscular pain in my upper arms both left and right and severe shoulder ache in my right. I put my shoulder out putting on a cardigan. Is this just a sign of weakness at the moment or related to carpal tunnel?
Questionnaires
Hi, I have completed the questionnaire prior to coming for an appointment next week. Some of the functioning questions did not cover some of the things that I have trouble with but I appreciate these are individual to me. Strange things such as pushing a pushchair, buttoning up poppers cause me to have symptoms in my left hand. Also some occupation specific activities which cause symptoms are when I am taking blood and suturing which I have great difficulty with.
scan
I had a message to say I can call in to Canterbury clinic on 23rd feb between 9-12 am to have a scan on both hands, before my op on my left hand on the 25th feb., will this still be ok ?
I am experiencing some sharp pains running through my thumb (a bit like a small electric shock ) in my right hand,it was operated on in May last year, also some tingling has returned when holding my hand still for longer than a few mins, will the scan show if the nerve has been trapped again, or is this not possible?
Second CTS Injection on 7 February 2012
Hello Dr Bland,
It is now two days since I received my second steroid injection from Dr Biggs. There has been a notable improvement in my condition but some symptoms still remain (Slight numbness/tingling at night). I intend to monitor the symptoms and keep you updated. In addition, I will again fill in the online questionnaire in about two weeks. One point, I have a very small swelling on my wrist. It produces no pain or irritation and is not red. If it doesn't disappear in the next week or so, could this be any cause for concern?
Kind regards.
Symptoms in right hand
My symptoms in my left hand have improved, six weeks post surgery. However my right has made a, slight improvement. I have been getting intermittent pain, at the front of my right wrist. Also if I pick up a spoon incorrectly and the tip of the handle slightly digs into the middle of my hand, it causes pain.
I have not been able to make a decision regarding surgery, as I very cleverly injured my right shoulder. The physio thinks it may need surgery. I know it is unlikely, but if my shoulder needs surgery would it be possible to do a decompression at the same time?
Re:Surgery
Hi there, ok i will have the injection in 2weeks, i am still waiting for my appt letter, i will call them this week. Unfortunately Herne Bay and Whitstable are not possible for me as i will have to get my father to collect me, Is Ashford Hospital possibel? i will contact you after the injection. Thank you.
