Treatment
I had injections in both wrists on 6th March 2018. About 30 minuets after both my hands were very swollen but it was gone by the next day. From the first night I was symptom free and have been since, some 7 weeks later. Very pleased with the treatment I received. The injections were painless and a blood test is defiantly more painful. Thank you very much
Update after over 6 weeks
First week after steroid injection in my right wrist I was wearing wrist splints in nights. After this I was experiencing slight tingle in my right wrist almost all the time through the day. I was bit worried that this wouldn't pass but to my surprise I do not have any more pain, even slightest numbness. I can finally sleep without waking up every couple of hours and try to ease the pain.
Thank you!
Unable to perform every day tasks
I have an appointment next week. In a lot of pain currently. Obviously I need the tests first but is it possible to have treatment on the same day? I am at a point where I can't do a lot with my right hand. Work is proving difficult, driving is hard, can't do any hobbies etc. It feels more painful than last time.
Thanks
Post op update (2.5 weeks)
Hi Dr Bland & Emma, quick update for you. Had surgery on my right hand 2.5 weeks ago & all seems to be good. Stiches out, healing well & I have had amazing sleep, no sleepless nights or cts pain anymore! it's such a relief. Hand still sore a bit when I do certain movements but so far so good. Will update you again further down the line. I am currently very happy indeed
Year after injection
Hi Dr Bland, it's been just over a year since Emma treated my right hand with an injection. I now find the numbness and tingling in my hand and pain in my arm are back. The tingling and numbness are much worse and wake me at night. I have filled in another assessment but was wondering if I could have another injection. I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks Pauline.
Left hand pain aaaaaarrghhhhhhhhhgain
Hi Jeremy
I saw you last about a year ago with a mystery burning pain around my left wrist, and which you sent me for second opinion with Mr Smith.
Mr Smith requested that I had an MRI scan which I finally had in early Sept after wishing the summer away and it was concluded that I has a swollen median nerve and an injection relieved the pain straightaway. I have been pain free until about 3 weeks ago. But it is quickly getting back to the levels it was last summer, day and night, and affecting my sleep.
Pain relief
Hi I have had Carpal Tunnel before and the steroid injections seemed to do the trick. However, some 9 months later it has come back and my right hand is painful at the moment. I can't take anti-iinflammatories as they make me sick. I have Voltarol Gell but that doesn't seem to be touching it. I am struggling to type at work, have poor grip and driving is also painful. Is there anything I can take that will help apart from the obvious paracetamol. I have an appointment on 1 May so not long to wait. Struggling :(
Appointment
Dear Dr Bland,
Would you be able to see me, as my right wrist is very bad. My last injection was a while ago, I am still not in a position to book time off work for the operation, as I am self employed and cannot take time off due to financial commitment.
I would really appreciate an appointment ASAP, you have always been brilliant with my treatment.
Many thanks
Louise Wynne
Return of pins and needles
Hi Doctor,
The pins and needles, especially my right wrist, has returned a couple of weeks ago and I'm struggling with severe pain in my wrist. Is it too soon after my last injections to arrange for another?
Best regards,
Jana Donkerbroek
Pins and needles returned
Hi. Sadly 4 days after my steroid injection the pins and needles / numbness has returned. I'm struggling to wear the splints at night but will try and persevere. Just wanted to update you that sadly it appears that the injections are unsuccessful for me :-(. Kind regards.
