Numbness at Night - Try Pil-O Splints

Hi there,

Is Fingertip numbness normal one day after bilateral CTS release?

Hi there,

Just had the surgery yesterday and surgeon mentioned that the numbing shot would last up to 12 hours but when I woke up this morning most of it was gone but I do still have some numbness in my middle and ring fingers on both hands. Just making sure this is normal. I’ve been icing my wrists and trying to keep hands above my heart as much as possible but still have noticeable swelling in fingers so I’m hoping the numbness will resolve as the swelling does. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

CPS-Made worse after Auto Accident

Hello, I had pregnancy induced carpal tunnel since 2006 and did not work for 5 years went back to work in 2010 symptoms began to increase around 2012. I have always had extra strong hands and no issues prior to the 2006 diagnosis. 2016 symptoms in right hand became increasingly painful and uncomfortable but not on a constant basis. Had EMG in 2016 surgery was suggested but CPS was not severe. Around mid 2017 my middle finger on right hand was in a constant state of numbness but no tingling sensation or pain on a regular basis just numb.

Electric shocks

I am 5 days post carpal tunnel release surgery
For the most part I’m doing pretty well.
Main complaint is that I have soreness around the incision, pain if I try to lift or push/pull
What worries me is Sometimes I get this electric shocks when I move my hand.
Is this normal and will go away?

Keeping forearm and wrist straight - Jeremy, can I have your thougths?

Hello world!

My name is Doug. I am a mechanical engineer and so I do a lot of sitting at a computer 80 hours a week. I also have to do some labor like picking up boxes and lots of repetitive movement as I have to assemble parts.

Feeling frustrated with possible early symptoms/signs.

Hi there -

Apologies, this is pretty long winded.

Had carpal tunnel release surgery in Dec 2016 - still have pain/cold feeling affected my work - any advice?

Hi all -- I'm a 29 y/o male who was diagnosed with CTS in my right wrist, likely due to repetitive work stress and regular home computer use. After going through multiple diagnostic tests with my surgeon (MRI, nerve conduction study, cortisone injections), he performed the release surgery on me in December of 2016. I returned to work in mid February of 2017 and my wrist/hand continued to experience very similar issues (mostly pain, discomfort, and a cool tingling sensation).

Symptoms post surgery

Hi I had my Carpal Tunnel Release surgery on my right hand 8 weeks ago and on the whole it has gone well. I have all movement back in my hand and can straighten my fingers. I still have some sensitivity in the scar area and massage the scar a few times a day. I also did my exercises as instructed.
I went back to work (as a typist) after 6 weeks, which I felt was ok, but I realise maybe should have been a "phased return".

Stiff fingers 3 months post op

Good evening Dr Jeremy,

I'm 57, in good health and had open CTR on the left hand 12-7-17 and my right hand on 12-21-17.
The well known Neurosurgeon said I needed surgery after doing the EMG nerve studies.
I was never told about exercises except to keep my fingers moving.
I may have run the snowblower a few times within 7 days of the surgeries with no extra pain.
Fast forward to 3-14-18

Both hands (index and middle fingers) are very stiff and sore in the morning and it's difficult to make fists.

Loss of use

I had an evaluation for loss of use. I'm not sure what the actual name is sorry but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what it means? Or what the loss of use equals to? Right hand Dorsiflexion 30 degrees (normal 75), volar flexion 30 degrees (normal 75), radial deviation 15 degrees (normal 20), ulnar deviation 15 degrees ( normal 20). Left hand dorsiflexion 50 degrees, volar flexion 50 degrees, radial deviation 15 degrees, ulnar deviation 20 degrees. Grip strength in right hand 10 pounds left 25. Any input is greatly appreciated thank you.
