numbness/pain and swellling in middle/ring fingers after surgery
I had open surgery 2 months ago and have had numbness/pain and swelling in middle/ring fingers. This was certainly not the problem prior to surgery. My doctor appears amazed that I have this problem since he states mostly 100% of his thousands of patients are satisfied "happy campers" with their results. I am very frustrated and am having a difficult time figuring out whether or not this is a permanent condition that I will now have to accept. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on what I could do to better this dreadful situation. Thanks

Bandages were removed on the 23/1 and stitches removed the 30/1
At no time post the operation have I needed to take any pain relief
Lyrica for carpel tunnel symptons
Has anyone else been offered Lyrica for carpel tunnel symptons? After reading about this medication on the internet I am really not happy about taking it. I have big problems with anti inflamatories, so I was given this, but was not given any advice regarding side effects. I checked this out when I got home. Maybe I get the reasoning behind it, but the side effects could be horrendous. I definitely have carpel tunnel (diagnosed at hospital) with the possibillity of neck problems too, as I can get the whole of my left arm into my shoulder go numb during the night.
Computer mouse
Can anyone recommend a wireless mouse that helps carpal tunnel symptoms, please?
Little finger numbness
Around three weeks ago I started to experience numbness in the little finger and also the ring finger, although not as bad as the pinky of my left hand. I spend a lot of time using a keyboard and also play guitar. Now my left hand feels very weak and I struggle to perfom actions such as opening a jar or putting a key in the door.
Any experience of CTS surgery after breast cancer surgery?
Hello, I'm new to this website and forum, and will start by saying what a great site with some very useful information - well done to all the contributors! I have developed acute CTS in both hands over the past 4 - 5 months ago and have been unable to work and carry out basic household tasks for the past 4 weeks or so. My job involves extensive keyboard work or driving, 5 days a week for the past 36 years. I live on my own and also care for elderly parents in my spare time.
Damage potential through continuing work through pain
Hi
What is presumed to be Carpal Tunnel increased in severity whilst starting work as a decorator. It was so severe that at its worst I couldn't close my hand and was suffering severe pain and also pins and needles and deadening. I've taken a week out but as my waiting time to be seen by a consultant will be at least 12 weeks would I be doing further harm if I continued the work when possibly helped by pain killers?
shall I go for the offered surgery?
Hi Dr Bland, your website is a valuable piece of knowledge. It's great. I looked through the page "when surgery failed", but could not find anything about complex regional pain syndrome. In New Zealand it is a recognized complication of CTR, but the German orthopaedic surgeons do not believe in it (according to my parents). My NZ orthopedic surgeon told me that I have developed it after CTR. I looked it up on the web, but what I read there does not fit my symptoms at all.
pain after CTR
Hi, I am a 33 old female. Last year I was diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome. I am not sure how bad it was, but in the nerve conduction study the sensory part did not respond to the elctrical stimulation. I had bilateral carpal tunnel release in August 2010. Afterwards pain and sensation improved a bit. I was told it will take some time until the sensation is back to normal. Unfortunately since December 2010 I have lost more and more sensation in both hands again and the pain has increased. Now my hands are clumsier and I have less sensation in both hands than before surgery.
confused!
