Post-carpal tunnel surgery (bilateral) problems

"I had carpal tunnel release endoscopic surgery. Now my hand turns blue in the bath when I lean on my arm. It's been 10 months since the surgery and I still have swelling, partial numbness, and the nerve feels like a mild electrical charge going through it when I brush my finger lightly over it. I have a constant 'warm' feeling inside my hand, my little finger is now 'crooked' only at the farthest joint, and when I straighten it out (as much as it will straighten by itself) I feel the tendon in my elbow pull and it's painful."

Carpal Tunnel Surgery

I would like to find out if it's normal to experience pain during CT surgery. My wife had CT release surgery a couple of days ago. During surgery when the surgeon was cutting the carpal ligament, my wife experienced severe pain and at the same time, the surgeon indicated that he was having trouble cutting the carpal ligament but did succeed in doing this. She is now recovering from the surgery I don't want to put people off but I am concerned that she had pain during surgery.

CTS- Sugested op at young age

Hello Dr Bland

Hi

I came to the clinic a year ago, when CT was diagnosed. I wore a splint at night and over the months the symptoms i.e. the tingling and pins and needles disappeared. Unfortunately, the symptoms have now reappeared in both hands, but more so in the right. My Raynauds is particularly bad when the temperature drops. Wondering whether I should now have steroid injections? m

Carpal tunnel or cervical radiculopathy? Confused.

Hi,

Update, John Nickson, op Friday 8th June

Hi again,

As mentioned in previous posts I had a flare up of ctsymptoms on 7th January, very severe pain, almost total loss of strength/flexibility in fingers.

Cortisone injections February 24th, immediate cessation of pain and thereafter gradual improvement in both hands.

Had op on worst hand(left) Friday 8th June. No noticeable improvement in hand operated on but both hands continued to improve.

I now have NO pain/symptoms in either hand and my strength has largely returned. I am, according to my tennis partner,"back to normal".

Rather strange.

Unable to use fingers after op

My father had carpal tunnel surgery almost three months ago. His symptoms were not terribly severe but his doctor recommended the operation and explained that it was relatively straight-forward and didn't pose much of a risk. His main symptoms were tingling and a numbness in his fingers. Immediately after the operation though, his hand swole up and he has almost completely lost the use of his forefinger, which he can't bend at all, and his middle finger is very stiff. He'd had no issues with these fingers exept for the tingling and numb feeling before the operation.
