Post steroid injection in right wrist
Hi
Pretty useful forum/site here. Bit of background, I am currently 25 years old and a self employed software developer.
I first went to the doctors in June 2010 with reports of tingling, wrist pain etc in my right arm doctors said I could be referred to a specialist but as my condition was not that severe it would probably be manageable by adjusting my lifestyle, work position etc.
CTS symptoms for about 8 months now ...
Hi, I am female aged 54
I went to my doctor back in Feb 2013 to discuss tingling/burning/numbness that for about 6 months I had been having in both wrists and hands (far worse on right). I put off seeing doctor in the hope that it might wear off and disappear by itself.
The doctor sent me to hospital for Nerve Conduction testing.
Injection today - wise to cancel tennis lesson tomorrow?
I didn't mention tennis to the guy (hand surgeon) I saw, but information I have read online tonight suggests a possible link between CTS and tennis.
Injection site quite sore now. Too early to say if symptoms have been eased.
Any advice? Tennis lesson planned for tomorrow, 24hrs after the injection.
Thanks in advance.
Costs to treat CTS annually
I am hoping someone can tell me whether or not is worth my while pushing for CTS release surgery or continuing down the route of non-surgical therapy. I am cautious as to the positive results of invasive surgery as I am not overwhelmed with confidence of the success rate of invasive surgery? Can anyone advise on whether it would be cost effective to chance the treatment or to continue with therapy
Surgery scheduled... Advice?
I have had symptoms of CTS in both wrists for over a year now. I started seeing an Orthopedic surgeon mid last year to see if we could stop it from getting worse. He said that we could try with night splints to see what happened. Well, it didn't help.
In September, 2012, I got my first injections and they helped for about a month, after the first couple of days being VERY uncomfortable. I went back in January, 2013 and had more injections. This time they only lasted about two weeks.
I still wear those sexy splints at night!
Not sure? Carpel Tunnel?
My symptoms started last September at the close of the bowling season (green bowls)
I played bowls every day for the last seven days of the bowling season (usually play three days a week) I then started to experience severe wrist pain on the sixth day, only my wrist was effected but after a few months my finger next to my thumb swelled and also the top part of my hand above my thumb and next finger to it (back of the hand),this swelling comes and goes usually worse when I use hand more.
CTS - Poor outcome after surgery or normal ?
Dear Dr. Bland, I want to thank you for your expertise and insight into this topic. Your guidance has been invaluable to me as I am post surg. with some issues that are not resolving. I was dxd with cts in 7/11. The neurologist advised me to wear a brace for 4 wks then return. After I used the brace my symptoms totally disappeared. In 11/ 12 my symptoms re appeared , so I wore the brace . After 5 weeks or so and no change I went to see ortho and told him about some other symptoms I was having: my hand would fall asleep at night and awaken me, I would shake it out and then be ok ..
Post Op One Week
I had endoscopic surgery on both hands last Thursday six days ago. I see my surgeon on Monday for my follow up however I am nervous about some issues I am having that I never had before. When I turns hands certain ways, putting on clothes, reaching for something across a table, or even just pushing slightly on the wrist area causes an immediate 'shocking type' of numbness through my entire hand. It goes away quick but is sometimes so sharp it is scary I have read that this is a positive tinel (spelled wrong possibly!!) response.
Post-op problems
It is nearly 2yrs since I had an open bilateral carpal tunnel release procedure done. The condition was diagnosed on EMG but I never had positive symptoms on the test where the Dr bends the wrist back. No x-rays or scans were done prior to the op. The post-op recovery seemed straightforward. After my 3 month review I was given the go ahead to return to full actvities. I routinely have to lift weights up to 25kg and carry out heavy manual work. Once I started heavy work it triggered a lot of pain.
not sure
