4 failed operations - where from here?

Hello and thank you for a very informative and clear website. I would like advice. I'm 53 and female, in good health. I've had left-sided CTS for five years. I've also had four operations at a well-respected teaching hospital in the home counties of UK. My 'dead hand' has not improved at all, evidenced by conductivity tests, physio-administered sensation tests and my own experience. The constant numbness is increasing in density, and it impacts on my work and my semi-professional instrumental playing.

aching across where the incision is

Is it normal, post operation, to have pain across the muscles where the incision took place on both hands? I have noticed that the aching pain gets worse throughout the day. The ache feels like 'gum ache' where it just throbs continuously.

I had my right hand operated on 25th June 2013 and the left hand operated on 23rd July 2013.

Tingling in little finger and ring finger and elbow pain

I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand eight weeks ago. I was diagnosed in 2008 with carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands after nerve tests. Don' t know what levels they were just told moderate. It was only when the night splints no longer worked that I was referred to a surgeon by my GP. I also had started to drop objects in both hands for no reason. I did not have further tests before the surgery. My question really is that after the surgery I am now in pain more than before but now in the little and ring finger and elbow.

4 weeks post bilateral open carpal tunnel release

Before surgery on both hands simultaneously 4 weeks ago I had intermittent numbness and tingling in both hands, most often occurring when playing the violin. I am a serious amateur violinist, practicing 1-3 hours a day. I began wearing splints at night about 6 years ago and that was a satisfactory solution to the problem of being awakened by sausage fingers, numbness, and tingling. In addition to the splints, I tried chiropractic treatment and two kind of therapeutic massage. These latter treatments seemed to have no effect.

help!!!

Hi, after extensive research to confirm my symptoms, I am convinced I have CTS. This was first apparent during my two pregnancies 12 and 15 years ago but it was never severe enough to see my GP. Since then, over the years I have had intermittent problems, mainly pain in my thumb when picking something up, affecting my grip and pains in my wrists.

seeking advice/help

I started having pains in my left wrist approx. Jan 2013, at first I thought it may be contributed to my Rheumatoid Arthritis. Approx in March the pain got worse and was constant. I 'stuck it out' as I had an appointment with my Rheumatologist in April. Unfortunately I saw her 'understudy' and it was an end of day appointment. I felt she wasn't listening to me and was a little condescending. Eventually she went to see the consultant who came in to briefly discuss my pain.

post op pins and needles in little finger

I had the operation on my right hand on the 25th June 2013 and am having my left hand operated on tomorrow. I notice that I keep on waking up, during the night, with my right hand having pins in needles (now including my small finger) - is this what is expected after the operation?

numbness post surgery

I had bilateral laproscopic carpel tunnel release in Feb, During the surgery I experienced a sever bleed in my left hand. My right had healed quickly and I have had no symptoms since the surgery. My left hand healed very slowly and was extreemly bruised for a month post surgery. Since the surgery I have had constant numbness in the three middle fingers of my left hand. I also experience pain and swelling and my middle finger gets strangly cold. My fingers often have a shiney appearance. My surgeon believes I have Sympathetic reflux dystrophy as a complication to the surgery.

Post injection

I first had a steroid injection in my wrist in January for cts ,strange feeling in my hand and fingers but after 3 days all was good.
June the cts came back pain in wrist ,fingers and up to my elbow .
I returned to my doctor he told me I need an operation to solve my cts ,but as I'm having my other hand fused at the end of July
He gave me another steroid injection but told me it might not have the same effect as the first injection .

Within minutes of my second injection my fingers and thumb be came very hot and painful to move .

What if I don't do ANYTHING?

Having mild attacks over 10yrs ago and my GP's partner giving me splints - which worked .. wearing for 2 wks managing without for 2 mths - in the last 6 mths, things have gone downhill, attacks so bad that I've dreaded going to bed - crying with pain, splints not working, tried Bowen therapy, worked for a few months, went to my GP and he sent me to a consultant (North of England!) I've had a Nerve Conduction test and they say it is serious .... Okay, so I'm due to go and see the consultant again, I know he's wanting me to have the "op" BUT what happens if I don't?
