my symptoms
Hi, I am from usa and stumbled upon this board. any help would be appreciated.
my symptoms are as follows
Left hand:
Aching left thumb intermittent, mostly at base adjacent to index finger
Left index finger intermittent pain at tip
Not really any night symptoms
can induce numbness in index finger by pressing on my palm left side ( could do so by pressing on base of palm and upper left side of palm...the based seems less sensitive than a few week ago but top left is just as sensitive)
get numb index finger if I extend arm and open up my hand like if I reach for something
Bilateral Symptoms /previous bilateral rotator cuff surgeries/ brother with nerve anomalies in wrist
I have had tingling & numbness increasingly over 5 years. My primary physician ordered ECM with showed moderate impairment in both wrists. However, since having rotator cuff repair surgeries in each shoulder (1 year(R) & 3 Years(L) ago) my hand problems have gotten more severe ,especially in my right(dominant) hand.I am seriously considering surgery on both since my ability to do things is seriously impaire--can't use a paddle , writing with a pen is becoming difficult--in general, anything that requires steady grasping causes tingling & numbness.
My pain is so bad after surgery.
Hello there I am new here and thought I would interject.
I had back surgery Nov 27th 2013 and 1 day later my carpal tunnel symptoms started. The worst pain ever in my middle and pointer finger, feels like raw meat that has cuts. Sharp tingling like they are asleep but accompanied by serious crushing pain.
Carpal tunnel op
I am trying to find out when my operation on my right hand might take place in view of the heart operation that is scheduled for roughly 8 weeks time. As the mobllity and feeling in that hand is very impaired it would be great if that could be cleared up before the major operation on the heart.
Just been told I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Hello, after having pins and needles in my hands on and off for about 6 years, and my Dr just telling me it was probably my blood loss anaemia that caused it, but that's all sorted now, and over the last few weeks my hands and arms have been waking me up at night and some mornings, the pain up my palm and forearm was just terrible, and sometimes it wouldn't go until I had been up and about for half an hour or so.
pain worse after operation
Can anybody please help ? I had an op on my left hand about a month ago . Although the spasms and paralysis appears to have receded. I am in dreadful pain all day and night , mainly around the thumb area. My surgery was put out to a private hospital and the whole procedure was , I can only be described as casual and I felt very uncared for ( I have had extensive surgery for cancer two years ago and 4 natural births, so am quite used to pain) I felt as if the anaesethetic had been injected straight through ,a nerve , it was excrutiating.
I'm new and could use some input about my doctors report
I have had symptoms of CT for as long as I can remember and finally went to my doc about it. He referred me to a neurosurgeon. I had my appointment last week and had an EMG done to both arms, and also a needle evaluation to my right arm (the one that bothers me the most). I didn't actually see the doctor that day, but I was given a copy of the report that the specialist will review. Besides being filled with lots of strange to me jargon and figures, there is a spot for "preliminary findings".
Use of a hard cast after surgery
I'm scheduling surgery for fairly sever CTS, here in the States. The surgeon I'm considering has all his patients in a rigid cast for a full 15 days following surgery. The cast extends to the base of the fingers. After that time both the cast and the sutures are removed in a single visit. I know that this is contrary to the more common practice today, where an immobilizing bandage is usually worn for just 2 to 5 days, followed by the use of a lighter bandage to protect the stitches.
Need advice
Four months ago, I went to have a have a ganglion cyst removed from my wrist. The dr performing the surgery said it looked like I would have problems with carpal tunnel syndrome so he went ahead and did the release. I had never complained about carpal tunnel or had a nerve conduction test done. I have severe pain in my wrist and fingers. I have constant numbness and tingling. I have lost range of motion in my wrist. The dr said it could take six months to go back to normal. I'm in constant pain. I teach gymnastics so this has had a huge impact on my job. Any suggestions?
Normal test
What happens after a normal reading when everything points to CTS ?
