private surgery
Good morning all, not sure if I am out of order here as I have just joined to find out more about Carpal Tunnel for my wife, who is waiting for an appointment to see our local GP (Deal area) she was told to wear a hand splint for a month and then come back to the surgery, as referrals for hand surgery were being scaled back, due to costs... now my question is does Michael Nicholas do private surgery at the Q E Q M.. as I do not want my wife to suffer with this problem any longer....sorry if I have trod on any toes, any details welcome
regards John

Poor Surgery Results
My mother, who is 94, had bilateral carpal tunnel on 20 August. Her surgeon determined her nerve loss by asking her to close her eyes whilst he touched the end of each finger with an unfolded paperclip. Her right hand was much worse than her left. She has had her stitches out and the wounds have healed well. However, she complains that the site of the wounds is painful and there is no improvement in her symptoms.
Post-Op recovery time and general info
I had open Carpal Tunnel surgery on both hands on 7th March 2013.
Im 21 and I work for a health care company, I spend a lot of my day soldering and assembling small components which require a lot of pinching (holding soldering iron, tweezers etc). I have been in this job for 2 years. I have also been weight training for the last year and a half.
post op problems
I have had my right hand operated on the 25th June and the left on the 23rd July. I'm still having problems with both hands. I agree with our last forum conversation that the pain I am experiencing across both palms is pillar pain. Both incisions are still red.
I am still experiencing that during the day, both hands begin to feel like they are swollen up and become clumsy. The hands did the same prior to surgery. Is this normal post op?
4 failed operations - where from here?
Hello and thank you for a very informative and clear website. I would like advice. I'm 53 and female, in good health. I've had left-sided CTS for five years. I've also had four operations at a well-respected teaching hospital in the home counties of UK. My 'dead hand' has not improved at all, evidenced by conductivity tests, physio-administered sensation tests and my own experience. The constant numbness is increasing in density, and it impacts on my work and my semi-professional instrumental playing.
aching across where the incision is
Is it normal, post operation, to have pain across the muscles where the incision took place on both hands? I have noticed that the aching pain gets worse throughout the day. The ache feels like 'gum ache' where it just throbs continuously.
I had my right hand operated on 25th June 2013 and the left hand operated on 23rd July 2013.
