Carpal tunnel topics
Dont know if to go ahead?
I have had carpal tunnel symptoms for a few years. I work with horses and i am physical every day. It just seemed to flare up from no where. I started getting pain in my right shoulder/ arm when using it and then my arm and hand would go dead at night and also tingles in my hand when driving or holding my hand up. I had nerve studies which showed ct on my right side and mild on left. I am booked in to have surgery on my right side a week today. I have read so many mixed opinions and results.
Cyst on flexor tendon in wrist, moderate carpal tunnel, is surgery worth it?
I need some assistance and advice.
I started experienceing carpal tunnel symptoms after my first child was born over two years ago. The symptoms progressed over a year and resulted in triggering of my hand upon straightening it, numbness in certain wrist positions, and hand pain. A cyst soon was visible on the underside of my wrist attached to one of the flexor tendons.
John Nickson-update on progress after injections and op
Hi again,
I had severe CT in both hands which began on 7th January 2012. Could hardly use hands.
Found this site and your comments invaluable, thanks again !
I subsequently had cortisone injections in both wrists. Symptoms began to ease immediately. Was booked in for two ops. Had one on left wrist to see effect. Right wrist continued to improve and now have had virtually no symptoms for many months. If I do get symptoms it is usually caused by lying on hand in night or by severe vibration caused-foe eg- by riding my bike. No symptoms in left wrist.
Carpal Tunnel and touchscreens
Hello,
I've had pain, numbness and tingling in my wrists and hands for three-or-so years. I've been to a hand specialist who sent me for an ultrasound and a nerve conduction study, but neither had conclusive results; actually, the result of one test contradicted the other! As a result, he didn't make a diagnosis, but suggested I could have a steroid injection in the wrist. However, as he told me there was a 2% chance of permanent nerve damage, I decided against this, as I am a software developer, composer and pianist by profession, so even at 2%, I can't afford to take that risk.
CTS left hand injections
Dr Bland - have seen you 3 times at K&C and my results always the same - 5. Had a steroid injection last July which had (I thought) about 30% effect for a few months. Saw you again in January of this year when it was still at 5 and it was suggested I returned to Dr Brown for a further injection. I had one done about 10 weeks ago and a second one done (re the Spanish percentage I understand) 2 weeks ago. I will of course be returning to see Dr Brown in about 5 weeks.
Oedema causing CTS?
I would appreciate some help with my diagnosis.
Drug Treatments for CTS?
Hi, I first had CTS symptoms in my right hand about three years ago, it sorted itself out pretty quickly and all was well. It then began again though more intensely 9 months ago in mid-July, again in my right hand. This time it didn't ease so in mid-August I saw my GP. He referred me for a NCS which confirmed mild CTS in my right hand. I had a corticosteroid injection (hand looked like Shrek's!) in December which, after a few days, helped. But about 3-4 weeks later the problem returned only slightly different.

Use of CTRAC after unsuccessful surgeries?
I have had carpal tunnel release surgery on both hands, and after about 1 year and a half, it has come back. I would like to try the CTRAC, but I see on the FAQ that it says not to use after surgery. Why is that? At this point I am desperate to try anything that will help me.
General advice about next steps with CTS diagnosis
I'm really looking for some more advice on what to do please- I'm not based in your area but would appreciate your help.
I visited my GP on a couple of occasions about pain in my left thumb ( I am right-handed). She did some standard checks on my wrist and hand , suggesting that it could be CTS. I have subsequently been for a Nerve Conduction Test and GP says results show I have CTS in both wrists and some compression of the nerve in my right elbow? I do not have a copy of the results so I am not 100% certain exactly what the issue is with the elbow.
