Re-curring Symptoms
Hi Dr Bland
My DR has asked me to contact you as my symptoms have returned. I have also been experiencing wrist pain mainly in my left hand and have less flexibility. I am hoping you can help or refer me in the right direction. I had a steroid injection last summer in each wrist which helped for a short period of time (a few weeks). Gradually the numbness and pins and needles have returned and worsened to the point of waking me up.
Many thanks.
Update following injections
Hello, Dr Bland.
Just a post to follow up Injections on both wrists on Thurs, 13th June.
Both wrists feel a lot better, and over the weekend I had a better sleep pattern. But this week there is still minor pins and needles/pain in both wrists when resting and driving. When working it seems a lot better. Maybe some more treatment required? Many Thanks for everything, Kevin.
steroid injection
Hello. Please may I arrange an appointment for a steroid injection in my left hand?
steroid injection
Hello
Thank you for seeing me earlier today. I have contacted my Doctors surgery as I was curious as to what dosage was prescribed to me when I had the steriod injection in March and they have confirmed that I had depo medrone 80mg/2ml, do you still think I should have another injection?
Many thanks
Pilar pain
Hi Dr Bland I had my operation on my right hand 5 weeks ago and still in considerable pain. I have been told i now have Pillar pain and it will go but take time.......i would like to know if there is anything else i can to help this as i need to get back to work and still have not a lot of strength in the hand and the pain is at most times unbearable even when taking strong painkillers. can you please let me know. Thanks
Enter page title here Still undecided re; CTS op
I am still undecided about having the op yet as carer problems are a relevant factor. Perhaps I could once more have both wrists
injected in the near future whilst I try to make further arrangements?
Return of symptoms
I have had three (I think) cortisone injections in my right hand, the last of which was in October 2012 before I went to Paris for six months. In April 2013, while I was away, I managed to fall over while skating and sprained my right wrist. This has brought all the symptoms back in both hands with a vengeance, although the right hand is considerably worse than the left. I'm having pain, tingling and numbness most of the day in the right hand. Last time we saw each other, you suggested it might be time for the operation on my right hand. I'm all for it. When can it be done?
Thank you.
Post Op
I had my right hand operated on yesterday morning by Dr Rine at Herne Bay. The team there is fantastic - everything was explained to me fully.
For most of yesterday the hand/fingers were still numb from the anesthetic, my main feeling was of severe stiffness in my fingers - it was extremely difficult to uncurl them, but completed exercises as instructed.
Another bike accident
Hi Dr Bland et al,
We agreed to look at my problem (1/5, left hand only) prior to winter triathlon training. I've had another cycling incident where my left hand was so numb that I couldn't use the brake properly on my bike when out training. It's also difficult to pick the right times to waggle my wrist in order to get the numb sensation to die down, particularly in traffic. I'm riding well over 100 miles each week recently and the problem isn't getting any better. Do you think we could go for an injection to get me through the racing season and consider surgery once the season is over.
6 week post injection update
Dear Dr Bland
The injection was in the left hand only, administered on 27th April 2013 at Deal hospital. I continued to wear the splint for a further week as advised. After which, I have had no symptoms in BOTH hands. Unfortunately, I was almost immediately diagnosed with a frozen shoulder but I don't expect this to be connected.
How often would you like me to report my condition?
Thank you
Ian
