Steroid Injection
Hi Dr Bland I had injections in both hands in November 2012, over the last 6 weeks had a lot of pain in my thumbs and wrists. I made an appointment at my Doctors and he said my carpal tunnel had come back and he would do an injection there and then in my left hand and then if I needed one in my right hand to see him in 3 weeks and also to wear my splints again. I was a bit confused at the time as I thought I could only have this done at Charing Surgery by Dr Warrilow. Julie Wanstall
Returned symptons need another injection
My symptons have returned and I feel it is time for another injection. Is this possible without having an appointment for the nerve tests?

Return of symptoms
Hi Dr Bland
Regrettably I have put off contacting you regarding my worsening symptoms. Last night I suffered with the worst pain in my arm for a very long time; was woken several times in the night with the pain and discomfort. I therefore recognise that I need to come and see you in your Clinic to discuss this, if this can be arranged. I work at Canterbury Hospital on a Monday and Thursday which would suit me well, but any day may be possible.
thankyou, Alison
Many thanks for the site
Having just completed the questionaire (which caused my symptoms to appear in both hands:-} ) I am thankful to find out that it is likely that I have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, and not anything worse, without waiting the 5 weeks until my clinic appoinmtent. What a fabulous tool this website is. Whilst appreciating the technical complexities involved, It would be wonderful if other NHS specialists offered a similar facility. Thank you Dr Bland.
Flaring up again
Hello My symptoms are flaring again and i was wondering if i could get an appointment again to access the severity? Please email me
Post Op symptoms
Mr Smith and another surgeon whose name escapes me (sorry) performed CT operation on my right hand less than 12 hours ago. I can now open my fingers fully for the first time in years without pain. My middle finger is completely numb and feels huge, I have seen this described as like a sausage and I agree haha. I can move all fingers gently but thumb is a bit restricted because of the bandage. My thumb, index and third finger all feel rather odd, numbness on palm side, slight tingling down sides and back. I am sure these will all improve in time.
Update on questionnaire
About 3 to 4 months ago started with a 'clicking' at base of middle finger on right hand. Like a mild electric shock when bending the joint. This continued for many weeks. Then quite suddenly the pain became very severe in the middle and ring finger at night. Relief only after standing and walking around for an hour or more but unable to lie down in bed without the pain returning. Managed to get some sleep sitting up. This continued for about a week. Pain killers including Amitriptyline and Gabapentin had little effect.

5th steroid injection query
Hello Dr Bland, I saw you in clinic on Tuesday morning to discuss treatment options for return of cts in right hand. Having discussed the options I (and hubbie!) made the decision to try a fifth steroid injection which is now booked for May 3rd. When I rang the primary care team in Ashford they said I was booked in to have both wrists injected. I have asked to have only my left wrist treated as in the previous 4 injections the symptoms in my right wrist seem to disappear miraculously. Am I right to opt for the left side to be treated on its own??
