Update since last appointment

Hi Dr Bland
Following my appointment earlier this year I have been wearing the wrist supports at night and whilst there is a slight improvement, the pain continues to wake me several times during the night. You had suggested the next course of treatment to be injections and I am at the point where I would like to have this done. Do I need to make an appointment
Through my doctor (Hills in Whitstable) or can I make one directly with you.
Thanks and regards
Phil Allen

Can I have an appointment to see you again please?

Dear Dr Bland
I have carpal tunnel which I have had one steriod injection in a couple of year ago then saw you again on its return last year. at this time I was pregnant and decided not to have any treatment. I feel that the time has come to ask for treatment as the tingling and numbness is often. Please can you tell me the correct procedure to follow. Do I have to go through the GP or can I get an appointment through this forum?
Many thanks
Natasha

Recurrance of symptoms... again

I have had three steroid injections into my right hand, and one in the left hand in November 2011. The symptoms are just starting to come back into both hands again. The last time we spoke, you mentioned surgery. I am currently based in Paris for work until the end of May, so would be unable to have anything done until then. Shall I call to arrange something for when I get back? I am back in the UK for a week from 08/03, so can pop into your surgery if necessary. Thank you.

Post injection results

Dr Bland, Following my injection of both wrists 7 weeks ago symptoms in both hands seem to have disappeared, I can still get numbness if the wrist is bent back for a period of time, ie resting my head on my wrists which is an avoidable action, but otherwise both wrists are considerably better, both the numbness & pain.

How often can steroid injections be done safely? As my first injection lasted approx 4 yrs but my second only 6 months, is it possible to contact the clinic without seeing my G P again if my symptoms return?

4th CTS Injection

Hello Dr Bland, Dr Biggs administered my 4th CTS Injection three days ago, on Monday 25th February. Whilst taking into consideration that my symptoms have not been as severe lately, I have noticed an immediate improvement. I have been suffering from some numbness and tingling at night and this has already become less prevalent. Other activities that have repeatedly provoked symptoms, such as cycling, are only slightly better. However, it's obviously far too soon to be able to make a conclusive judgement.

Terrible pain

Dear Dr Bland
I had the operation on my right hand on the 26th January 2013 and all seems to be well.
However, my left hand is very, very bad. I did not sleep at all last night.
Would it be possible for me to come for an injection as soon as possible?
Thank you
Ronald Murray

Steriod Injections

I Had both my rists injected on monday evening by Dr Beach and so far all is well. I had my first fall nights sleep in nearly eight month, so long may that continue.
I will keep you posted on my progress.

surgery

hi Dr Bland
when i saw you in jan you suggested that i be put on list for operation for my cts would this be on both wrists or just the worst wrist as the symptoms are worse in my right hand but my left hand has the worse result from the tests or do you think more injections would be of benefit as they seemed to have a good effect
I would like to know if there is going to be any issues with my medication having the surgery as i take antiplatelet medication and am diabetic

regards
chris morris

Genetic CTS family

Dear Dr Bland
We are the family with genetic carpal tunnel syndrome. I saw you recently with my son, and my daughter will be seeing you on February 28. I have been researching my family tree and have traced some Italian roots.
1802, Giuseppe Castelli later called Costello
Mary Ann Podesta
Bing Coney
In 1802 they lived in the north of Italy at Asso on Lake Como.
You mentioned that an Italian family had been researched with similar symptoms to ours. I was wondering if there was a common ancestry between our two families.
Can I also ask if I can have an appointment to see you please?

Surgery

After my testing the other day, I think surgery would be the sensible way to go considering the severity on the right hand, my only concern is that the appointments are a long way off, which concerns me regarding the possible deterioration between now and then, and also enduring the pain and problems it is causing.
Are there ever any cancellation appointments that become available on short notice? Or would it be worth having an injection in the meantime?
Kind regards,
Vicky
