BEGINNINGS OF CTS AGAIN

Hello. I had a second injection in my right hand last year, about May? The CTS is now returning fast. I do have to use my hands at work (the vineyard - it's a really busy season with pruning and tying down) and it's becoming increasingly difficult again. Bad sleep and a numb hand, with some weakness in the morning. Any possibility of another injection? The CTS has never come back in my left hand :) and the injection was successful in my right hand until now. I have electric secateurs, but I do have to use my hands for lots of manual work in the vineyard.

carpal tunnel

Hi I had injections in both hands in december and until week ago everything was fine, i have started getting pins and needles in my left hand and is also feeling numb at times.Do i need to contact my GP to make an appointment to see you

Return of the CTS

My symtoms have started to return over the last few weeks, waking with numb fingers both hands, left worse. I have also been getting pain in both wrists and opening bottles, jars etc has started to cause pain, again the left is worse. If I reach up for something sometimes I get a sharp pain through the wrist and along the arm. The pain goes quite quickly but is happening more often. I am aware of my wrists when just sitting sometimes.

symptoms getting worse

Hello Dr Bland, I saw you in October last year, and although i was told that i had c/t in both wrists i selected to only have an injection in the right hand, but since then both hands have got much worse and i would like to come and see you again. I had the first jab at the Northgate surgery by Dr Biggs Thank you Jackie Taylor

Carpal Tunnel Glove Result

I was fitted with a pair of carpal tunnel gloves on Thursday 10th January 2013 and I think it's fair to report now that these have been unsuccessful.

I am still getting the pins and needles symptoms in both my left and right hand fingers, regardless of whether I wear them or not. Also, when wearing them I find that the strap that fits between the thumb and index finger creates soreness in the fleshy area between.

Post Injection Update

It is a week ago that I had injections in both hands, just to update you on my progress:
The injection in the left (level 1) was painless and I had no pain afterwards.
The injection in the right (level 5) was quite painful and I had quite severe pain for the first 24hrs, this reduced dramatically, and by 48hrs was back to normal.
I feel that there has been a slight improvement in the joint pains I was having in both hands.
The tingling in both hands still feels the same, as does the numbness in my right thumb and first 3 fingers.
I will update again next week.

Kind regards,
Vicky

Update after surgery

After having a steroid injection on 22 Nov 2012, there was an initial improvement in my symptoms - no more waking up at night, but still some discomfort. By the time my carpal tunnel surgery was scheduled (16 Feb 2013), the symptoms were distinctly worse. Since the surgery - nearly 3 weeks ago - the painful burning sensation has not returned, although there is a constant slight tingling / numbness in the tips of fingers 2,3 and 4. I have now recovered almost full use of the hand. So far so good I guess?

CTS Follow up required

Dr Bland. I had a Steroid injection last June. But I had to see my GP on the 28th Feb for a further injection in my left hand as the pain became severe and I needed pain relief.

Returning symptoms

Dr Bland. My CTS symptoms are returning. The steroid injection I had previously worked very well. I have no reason to think a repeat wouldn't be equally good. If you agree could you arrange it for me?

Update since last appointment

Hi Dr Bland
Following my appointment earlier this year I have been wearing the wrist supports at night and whilst there is a slight improvement, the pain continues to wake me several times during the night. You had suggested the next course of treatment to be injections and I am at the point where I would like to have this done. Do I need to make an appointment
Through my doctor (Hills in Whitstable) or can I make one directly with you.
Thanks and regards
Phil Allen
