In pain when do I get help
Hi I'm supposed to have a appointment with the clinic this week but it is cancelled but I'm in pain most of the time
Review after splint
Is it possible for CTS to get worse after the splint? As thats how it feels? Was in agony washing and brushing my daughters hair earlier which doesnt normally affect it.
Six-Week Follow-Up
Following steroid injections, am letting you know how my carpal tunnel is doing, as requested. Carpal tunnel symptoms seem to have gone, however, there is a small amount of pain in my left wrist on the thumb side. It feels closer to the back of the wrist than the venous side. It is not very severe pain, nothing like as bad as the carpal tunnel. It tends to manifest at night and when I do things like opening jars. Occasionally feels very slightly swollen compared to the other wrist. More of an annoyance than anything. I just mention it in case it is something that could worsen.
6 week review after injection
I had an injection in my right hand on 10 February 2020. My left hand has been referred for surgery, which may not happen for some time due to the covid19 virus.
Treatment update
It is six weeks since I had my treatment at Canterbury hospital and, as requested, here is an update. I had left hand level one one and right ( my working hand), level three. I had a steroid injection in my right hand and I have worn a splint every night since then. I have consolidated with my left hand and there is no discernible change or problem. There has been a significant positive change with my right hand. It took about 4 days to settle down, slightly longer than specified. I have had no episodes of CTS overnight. I have had about three episodes of CTS during the day.
One year since carpel tunnel operations
Dear Dr Bland,
After several injections from you and your team over the past few years of which I am very grateful, I finally decided to have both hands sorted and had them operated on , one in January 19 and the other in March 19, to date both are successful with no further problems to date.
Thankyou to you and your team for all your help and guidance.
Kind Regards
Bill Burns ( demoman )
Getting worse cant sleep splints not helping sorry
My pain is getting progressively worse at night even though I wear the wrist splints. I get to sleep quickly have been almost pain free all day while I am busy. However after a few hours I am woken by severe pain in one or both hands. Then there is nothing I can do apart from get up and walk about or find something to do. Once I am busy the pain starts to ease. I go back to bed fall asleep and within an hour or so the pain wakes me again. And that's how my nights are now. I don't know what to do. I need advice please. Can I make another hospital appointment to see Dr. Bland ?
Thread Carpal Tunnel Release
Dear Dr Bland,
My apologies if I am in the wrong Forum, but I wanted to ask this question of you, which could also be of general interest. I have a CTS problem for which surgery has been recommended, but I would be keen to avoid a big scar in the base of my palm if I could.
Advice on next steps after using splint
I had my appointment in Oct 2019
Went well to begin with wearing splint at night, been worse again recently, and connected to shoulder/jaw ache as well.
Not sure if I should focus on carpel tunnel - consider injection, and/or be patient and continue with the splint consistently at night for longer? OR focus on trying to figure out the shoulder/jaw issue. Which is impacting which??
appreciate your advice.

Returning pain and numbness
Hello,
I have had the pain return in both hands, it has been back quite bad for a few months now and i keep putting off contacting the clinic but i have got to a stage where i am unable to sleep again due to the pain, i am back to wearing splints at night and it is helping a bit but not enough, Driving is also causing me pain. The pain and numbness seams to be travelling further up my arms this time around. Is it possible to get an appointment at some point?
