Follow up after steroid injections
Hi,
I had steroid injections in both hands on 18th June (left-3 and right-5), so just over 3 weeks ago now and you asked me to message with an update.
Both hands were greatly improved that first night, and I wasn’t woken with any pain, and haven’t been since.
I’ve still been getting a bit of tingling every now and again; when running pushing the buggy, driving for long periods of time, riding my bike, and some random times. However it’s been nowhere near as bad as before the steroid injections, and I’m very pleased with the improvement.
Thanks,
Francesca
6 week splint review EKH118695C
Following first consultation with Dr.Bland used splints on both hands overnight and achieved immediate relief allowing a full nights sleep. However although still wearing splints overnight I now get some pain in my right index finger & right thumb enough to wake me. After a short amount of exercise the pain goes and I can sleep again.
Still wearing splints overnight on both hands.
Maybe should have opted for the steroid injections ?
Pleased with results so far, thank you !
Kindest Regards
Peter
6 week splint review
I used the splint for the recommended 6 weeks. Relief from tingling and numbness was apparent immediately. Have concentrated on hand/arm position in bed and symptoms have abated even when not using the splints

Return of symptoms
Hi Mr Bland
Would it be possible to return to the clinic as the pain in my hand has returned? My hand is again swollen and I am finding it hard to make a fist and I have numbness in my finger tips and pains in my hand.
Kind Regards, Gary
Testing for CTS
I had the test back in May and was told I do not have CTS. The strange thing is that my right thumb used to be extremely painful but since the test I haven't experienced any pain. Is there any connection. Thank you
Numbness returned
Good afternoon Dr Bland, I hope you are well. I had an injection with Emma in April 2018, it has been brilliant until about a week ago, both hands are keeping me awake. As you have always been brilliant, could I arrange an appointment with you ASAP.
Kind regards
Louise Wynne
Swelling
Morning all, I have been suffering well over a year in both hands with my dominant hand the worst. I have had three injections and am now awaiting the operation which is scheduled for the end of June. When I wake in the morning my hand is very swollen. Just wondering if anyone else has the same thing and if there is anything I can do in the way of painkillers because the pain is so bad and seems to be getting worse. My hand is sometimes twice the size, cannot wait for the operation to come around!
Any advice would be great thanks everyone
Carpal tunnel getting worse
Hello I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel a couple of years ago. It has been just about bareable, but recently my hands and wrists have been so painful. I have been wearing a split when possible, which eases the pain for a small amount of time, then the pain returns.
Any help would be much appreciated
Worried after fall
Hi. I had CTS surgery on my left hand on 17th April which was healing well. On Sunday I tripped up the stairs and put my hands out to save myself. I landed fairly heavily and bent both my hands back. Both hands have been very painful since. Am I at risk of having done any damage or will it just delay the healing process?
Thank you.
