Carpal tunnel

Dear Dr Bland, I had a steroid injection in my right hand on Tue. 29th August, which gave me some relief. I can now open the hand, but the fingers are still numb and I cannot grip things or write without difficulty. You did say I would probably need surgery, so I think I need to go ahead with this as soon as possible please. k Many thanks. Gillian Hanlon

Six week review

I had a steroid injection on 21.08.17. In the first week, my fingers were quite numb I had pain in my wrist. It is now six weeks since my injection I only have numbness in the tips of my thumb, middle and third fingers which does not give me too much of a problem.

Symptoms return

Last Christmas I had steroid injections to both wrists with good results. In June I had a knee replacement which necessitated me using a walking stick. Unfortunately, as you predicted might happen, the symptoms returned in my right hand. The left hand is still fine. I am, to some extent, still dependent on the walking stick. I am wondering if it would be advisable to request an appointment to see you with regard to the next stage in treatment for the CTS or wait until I no longer need to use the walking stick before making an appointment.

Check up

Hi
I had steroid injections in both wrists on 27 July. At first they didn't seem to work. However, over time my hands are much better. I still get some pain so I am not out of the woods but they are a lot better. Is it worth coming for a check up to see what is going on with them as my right hand was a 4 at the time.
Thanks

Result of steroid injection.

I had the injection on my left wrist on the 4th September 2017. For 3 days I was symptom free then on day 4 the symptoms returned but as severe as before the injection. The pins and needles are mainly in middle, ring and little finger and go up the arm to just past the elbow joint. On a scale of 1-10 the pain is at it's worst during the day when I sit at a table registering 6 or 7. If I remain sitting at the table I have to rest my arm in my lap and take pain killers. I wear the wrist brace every night in bed as the pain is more intense then.
Yours sincerely
Vanessa Edwards

first steroid injection results

I had my first steroid injection done on 2nd August to the right wrist. Some symptoms improved, pain during a night and stiffness in the morning is better. Numbness in my fingers appears to be now only in my fingertips. As I’m right handed, some of activities (griping, holding or lifting things) are still causing discomfort.

Injection result

Following my injection by Emma in August, it has been very successful . Symptoms much improved with only very occasional pins and needles. Thank you for the excellent service.

Steroid injection

I attended the clinic last Tuesday for a steroid injection in my right wriist. CTS Moderately severe 3/6 diagnosed on 25th August
2017. After 5 days there has been no improvement but I know it might take longer to have effect. Can't wait!

Symptoms returned, next stage?

Following a second round of steroid injections earlier this year symptoms have returned to both left and right hands, but the right hand seems to be worst affected. Unfortunately I keep forgetting my password for the CTS website. Please can we make an appointment to discuss further treatment? I am waking up with the usual numb, tingling sensations, but in addition a painful dull ache across the knuckles which I can't shake off and an awareness of discomfort in the wrist.

Many thanks

Jessica Murray
