Increasing pain
Hello Dr Bland - I had an appointment booked to visit your clinic as my symptoms have become more severe recently. Unfortunately I was unable to keep this March appointment due to a sickness bug but you have kindly sent me another appointment for 2nd May. I would really appreciate your advice as now the pain in my right hand has become very severe. Last night I was in so much pain I was unable to sleep at all. Unfortunately the pain has stayed with me all day and I am dreading another sleepless night. I wear a splint but this doesn't seem to help anymore.

Dear Dr Bland
It is now 4 weeks since you fitted splints for my wrists. The results have been good in that I now sleep through the night without discomfort but I still have the lack of feeling in two fingers of my left hand and the pins and needles in my right. Neither give much problem during the day so I could live with them, but if an injection is still an option that would be my preferred route.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
David Garstang
What next?
I have worn the splints at night for 3 weeks and got immediate relief from being woken at 4.00am with the burning pain, numbness and tingling in both hands. However, I still get numbness and tingling in both hands. This is worse unless I totally rest and do nothing.I am a potter and need my hands!!
I have tried one night without the splints and was woken by burning pain.
Should I persevere with the splints?
advice please
Dear Dr Bland,
Increasing Pain and Numbness
I have been advised by my GP to contact you with regards to the increasing pain in my left wrist and pins and needles / numbness in both hands at night. I have completed a new severity score.
New assessment please
Hi Dr Bland
I had surgery on my left wrist back in January 2014, I'm glad to say it was a great success.
My right wrist is now playing up, waking me up most nights with pain and numbness from my upper arm down to my fingertips.
Do I need to go back to my GP to get a referral? or is it possible for you to arrange for an assessment.
Thanks for your time
Left hand weakness.
Had surgery on my right hand and it was completely successful a little weakness but far better than I expected. At the same time I was tested on the left and it showed minimal signs of cts. I now wake up with slight pins and needles and some pain, but the weakness is the worst of it. Is this common or do you think this is not related to cts.
Steroid Injection Appointment
Good Morning Dr Bland
I came to see you last Thursday and you diagnosed me with CTS, Stage 4 in both hands. I have decided that I would like to try the steroid injections before I opt for the surgery so wondered whether you can arrange an appointment(s) for me please?
I cant quite recall the conversation but felt that you said that they are Saturdays in Canterbury. I don't know if there is a waiting list but as I am away quite a lot over Easter I have put a few days here that I am available:
8th April
22nd April
06-May
27-May
Please let me know if I need to do anything further.
Returning pain
Hi I had a second injection last may my symptoms have now returned and pain is keeping me awake at night and tender during the day. I have been trying the splint again but it's not easing the pain much. Am I able to have another injection?
Request for help with right hand
Since my last treatments my left hand which was operated on has been no great problem and vastly improved on the way it was pre-operation. However my right hand which has been treated with 2 cortisone injections has steadily become much more of a problem. I now have pain in my right hand especially at night which regularly wakes me up and whenever I use it during the day. I would much appreciate having the operation on my right hand now to ease the pain in much the same way it did for my left hand.
