Possible Large Fibre Polyneuropathy after CTR surgery
My Carpal Tunnel symptoms started with intense itching of my right forearm in May 2020 and worsened thereafter. Conservative treatments of splinting, pain relief and 2 steroid injections (one under ultrasound) didn’t work so a NCS was done and the Carpal Tunnel surgery took place in November 2020. After the surgery, I didn’t experience the relief I had hoped for. In fact the symptoms only mildly improved on the radial side of the hand but new symptoms developed right after the operation, on the ulnar side causing pain and functional deterioration.
Thank you
I really just wanted to say that I went to Canterbury hospital yesterday for tests and came out within an hour, having been treated extremely well. All the staff were just so lovely and caring. I also had a steroid injection while I was there which I wasn't expecting to have so quickly . Many thanks
Complete numbness in hand 60 HR post-op
Hello! My husband underwent carpal tunnel release surgery this past Friday morning. He underwent a nerve block and has yet to regain any feeling in his hand. He’s a maxillofacial surgeon and this is his dominant hand, so it goes without saying that any complications will be devastating. And he was so worried about this surgery, it breaks my heart. He was prescribed steroids and told to ice it often.
How bad is his prognosis? I know it’s early, but he has COMPLETE numbness in his entire hand - we both know this isn’t normal. We’re both so worried. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
Cts post surgery
Hi everyone,
I had carpal tunnel open release and de quervains decompression on my dominant hand 1 week ago.
I can just about make a loose fist now and I can touch thin to fingers. Can't bend fingers all the way yet etc.
When I've been doing my exercises, my carpal tunnel scar goes soooo tight. It feels like things are getting stuck in my palm. It doesn't hurt its just very tight stuck feeling... Is this OK? If its scar tissue... Will contouring exercises help? I can feel my tendons gliding through sometimes... Again not painful.

Homeopathic remedies?
Having told a friend about my CTS diagnosis, I get an email suggesting taking METHYLSULFONYLMETHANE (MSM) tablets..
Having looked into it, it appears these may have some benefit to those with osteoarthritis and other joint conditions, but as CTS is nerver related I personally don't see any benefit in MSM.. And I'm generally not a believer in these type of supplements. I've tried glucosamine in the past but not noticed any beneficial effects.
Any thoughts on these would be appreciated, thanks
