Carpal Tunnel operation

Had my left wrist Carpal band cut 22/07/21 have severe pain in hand all fingers and thumb swelling. Hoping this is just temporary.
Taking paracetamol but it’s not helping.

2nd CTS decompression

I had CTS decompression surgery on my left hand 3 days ago. The surgery was performed by Dr Michael Nicholas at the QVMH in Herne Bay and he suggested I post my experience to this forum.

I had decompression surgery for my right hand at Reculver in June 2019. The hand tested at level 4. The recovery from the surgery was a lot faster than I expected with good use of the hand within a couple of weeks, and now 2 years on the improvement is just about 100% with almost no pain, tingling or numbness in any digit and complete mobility in the hand.

Have completed questionnaire and dismayed at the result which shows a very low chance of CTS.
If not CTS what could be causing me such discomfort?
Do you think I have under-scored the pain severity in the questionnaire?

 I feel like my life is over

I've been suffering for two months. Fortunately, my EMG -- which I could not finish, and hope never to repeat -- shows zero nerve damage and is negative for carpal tunnel syndrome. However, my doctor is confident that I do have carpal tunnel syndrome. Steroid injections relieve my symptoms for a few weeks, but now they're coming back.

My doctor does not want to perform surgery yet. He said I need to adapt and change my activities. He said I could have up to two steroid shots per year and perhaps in five, 10, or 15 years I will be ready for surgery.
