Complications following endoscopic release surgery.

I am almost 9 weeks post endoscopic release surgery on my right hand. From the very first few days following surgery I knew something wasnt right. I had my left hand done 4 weeks prior to my right hand and everything went well with that recovery. My right hand is a completely different story. The nerve block wore off after 2 or 3 days but left me with constant numbness on half of my middle finger and half of my ring finger. This has not passed and remains numb. My hand remains quite swollen and has a very red blotchy look to it.

Surgery has not helped

I had foot surgery six months ago and spent 10 weeks in a wheelchair as I was not allowed to put weight on the foot and couldn’t use crutches due to a right shoulder injury.

After about six weeks of using the wheelchair I started to get numbness in my thumb and forefinger, more in my left than right. I felt that this was caused by constantly putting all my weight on my hands as I transferred between the wheelchair and recliner, toilet, shower chair, bed etc. There was nothing I could do about it though until I could walk with all my weight on the operated foot.

Agony from CT help needed

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis last spring and this has caused me lots of pain and misery. It is in my fingers but for the last 3 weeks i have been suffering very badly with CTS. I know what it is as I have had bouts of it before but never like this. My right and dominant hand is in constant pain and I have pins and needles most of the time.
I am a teacher in a new job and at the moment I can’t even hold a pen as my fingers won’t work properly and are very stiff. It is impossible for me to grip things including a pen.

New symptoms and treatment is not working

I am a 47 year old male. I felt only wrist pain initially starting in August/2019. Eventually, the palm area and area below the fingers felt swollen. Many times I would wake up in the morning with numb hands. In November of 2019, the numbness in the right hand (specifically the thumb, index and middle finger) was constant. I immediately sought medical attention where recommendation was to use ibuprofen and take a rest from physical activity (mostly boxing (3 hours a week) and light dumbbell use.

Next Injection?

I've had CTS tests a couple of times now. The previous time however, my test results seemed to have showed improvement but with the pain I was experiencing, I was still given another an injection in my wrist again as the previous had worn off.
The Doctor I saw said that if the pain returned again then to get in contact, not through the GP, and we could arrange another. The pain has come back again as I am experiencing the same pains as before (numbness/tingle in the fingers/trouble writing etc).
I'm not sure who I need to contact though.

Brace - does it need to be worn indefinitely?

I had a cortisone injection in January 2018 and have not had any further symptoms. I have worn a brace every single night since the injection but I’m not sure if this is necessary. Would appreciate your advice. Thanks

Is there any difference between Kenalog and Depo-Medrol for CTS?

(Assuming the patient is the same dose).

I understand they're both used to treat CTS but I was wondering if one could be considered clinically "better" at all?

numbness and 'zap' feeling

I had cts on 29 November for severe carpal tunnel on non-dominant hand. Scar healed well, have good dexterity, too. Was doing great until one night, when I woke up with my entire hand numb, felt like I slept on it. Got it all woken up but now have numbness I didn't have at first. When I type even a little, fingers and palm go numb. At rest, the middle finger is totally numb, the long edge of the ring finger nearest to the middle finger is sometimes numb, and the thumb is numb only at the nail joint. When I do the pincer movement, I get a zap in my palm like when you hit your funny bone.

Considering Revision Surgery

In Oct. 2018, I had carpal tunnel release on my right hand. After symptoms returned, my neurosurgeon ordered an MRI of my right hand and wrist which showed "a large amount of scar tissue exerting a mass effect on the median nerve". EMG results were normal. It was decided to watch and wait to see if this resolved on its own and, if not, consider revision surgery.

Now, at 13 months post-op, the scar tissue remains and I continue to have right-hand pain similar to that before the first surgery.

Any guidance is much appreciated.
