symptoms getting worse
Hi Dr. Bland,
The splint you gave me in August was fine at first and my symptoms seemed to disappear. Unfortunately they've got much worse since the beginning of October. My hand is uncomfortable/painful at night and wakes me up 2 - 3 times. It's often very tingly during the day now and my wrist is much weaker.

Referal for surgery?
I had a follow up appointment with Dr Jolyon Miles on the 18th November 2013, 6 weeks after my steroid injections in both wrists. It was determined that there was an improvement on the left hand but not the right which continues to deteriorate. I was informed that I was being referred back to Dr Bland for surgery on the right wrist but to date I have not received any further appointments. I have chased this again today with the Referal Unit and was advised to leave a message asking for information on this forum.
Recent injection
Hello Dr Bland,
Had injection in right wrist on 02 December. Previous injections worked almost immediately and lasted a number of months, but this one has made no difference. Numbness in second and third fingers persists. Was going to come back for left wrist before Christmas, but I think I may wait till January. Or shall we just go for the surgical option? Easter holidays would be a good time - term time is difficult, as I need to be able to drive to get to work.
Thanks
Jonathan Cane
Development update
The first week of wearing the splint I had an increase of tingling in my fingers, it then settled completely until 30th November, after a weekend away xmas shopping, driving home in the evening my fingers in the right hand started tingling then went a little numb. It has been fine since then.
tingling and numbness returning
Hi Dr Bland,
Its been a while since contacting the department. Just to let you know that I have stiffness in my left and right forefinger and second finger on a regular basis particularly in the morning and when holding a pen for long time. It has been about a year since steroid injection in both hands would you advise another one at this stage? I use Voltarol daily to ease the numbness and the pain ( although the pain is not as bad as it used to be)
kind regards
Richard N
Advice
Sorry haven't got hospital number. Had surgery to my right hand in February 2012. Left hand, was offered injections but cancelled at time. Having problems with left hand, wearing splint at night, which gives much relieve, would it be possible to come to your clinic at KCH
Kind Regards
