First Appointment 3/4 weeks away

I visited my GP on the 5th October after 2 weeks of waking with numbness 2/3 times a night in my thumb and next two fingers. I have tried dangling my arm out of the bed but I still wake 2/3 times a night. Is there anything else I could try to get a reasonable nights sleep.

Continuing symptoms

Dear Dr Bland, I had nerve conduction studies and saw you back in April this year. You gave me splints to use at night. They helped a bit but I am still having symptoms and I have to wear the splints every night still otherwise I wake up with numbness in my right hand. Sometimes I have it even with the splint. I have constant tingling and itching in my palms and using the computer and holding the telephone is quite uncomfortable. Is it worth considering the injections?

Advice re wrist splint use during the day

Hello Dr Bland. I have been referred for tests on 1 November by my GP. My symptoms are worse during the day when I am using my hand although the tingling sensation is pretty much constant with varying degrees of intensity.

Inevitable surgery...

Hello Dr Bland. I had another injection on Monday and although initially I thought it had worked, was woken up throughout last night with arm pain and numbness, so I am fast considering the surgery on my left hand. Could you tell me what I have to do to instigate this and what the waiting list is like for surgery?

Also, we spoke about something to 'take the edge off' in advance of the surgery as last time I found the local anaesthetic pretty vile. Everything else seemed ok but that is one of the things I am most worried about. Is there something you could recommend? Regards

Carpal-Tunnel.

From the day i put on these hand guards,my hands have been alot better.I still get days where my hands play up.The early hrs of Thurs Sept 6th.Myright arm ring&middle finger hurt.Fri&Sat Sept 7th&8th both ok.Sunday 9th cramps early hrs both arms.Monday 10th left hand little finger&index finger pain daytime.Tues 11th ok.Weds 12th left hand pain all over. The pain in my hands seems to be across the knuckles&swelling in both hands.Little fingers on both hands still give me pain occasionally.

Do i go back to my GP?

Hi JB!
my symptoms are back!, when i feed my son in the night i can't even feel the bottle! After a while as the feeling starts to come back i get almost like "stiff" pains in my fingers!! i also started getting numbness while driving...

Do i go back to my GP? or come straight back to you??

Splints

Dear Mr Bland

It has been two weeks since my appointment and I have been using both the splints at night from 19.00 until 08.00. I am not finding it any easier. I wondered if you could put me forward for the experiments you spoke about at the hospital. Could you please tell me what the waiting time is, also would the appointments be early evening.

Regards

One year on and suffering

Hoping to get in contact with you for a follow-up consultation following injection approx. one year ago. Lately I've been experiencing severe numbness in right hand (injected hand) as well as stronger, sharp pains all through the night that I can't shake off and is keeping me awake. Today pain has lasted all through the day and I've had severe weakness in my hand as well.

Hoping we can discuss this further and possible solutions in person. Best wishes.

update

Hello Dr. Bland. My last injection on the 26th July went well and was painfree. However, for the last two weeks or so I've been getting a numb hand if I'm on the phone for more than ten minutes, this isn't a problem as I can just change hands but indicates that the injection is begining to wear off. Yesterday I started plastering my wall, thankfully I'm doing a rustic finish and can do a small bit at a time, because almost as soon as I started I had bad pain in the heal of my hand, the bit between my thumb and my wrist and tingling numbness in my other fingers.
