Splints

Dear Mr Bland

It has been two weeks since my appointment and I have been using both the splints at night from 19.00 until 08.00. I am not finding it any easier. I wondered if you could put me forward for the experiments you spoke about at the hospital. Could you please tell me what the waiting time is, also would the appointments be early evening.

Regards

Julie Wanstall

One year on and suffering

Hoping to get in contact with you for a follow-up consultation following injection approx. one year ago. Lately I've been experiencing severe numbness in right hand (injected hand) as well as stronger, sharp pains all through the night that I can't shake off and is keeping me awake. Today pain has lasted all through the day and I've had severe weakness in my hand as well.

Hoping we can discuss this further and possible solutions in person. Best wishes.

update

Hello Dr. Bland. My last injection on the 26th July went well and was painfree. However, for the last two weeks or so I've been getting a numb hand if I'm on the phone for more than ten minutes, this isn't a problem as I can just change hands but indicates that the injection is begining to wear off. Yesterday I started plastering my wall, thankfully I'm doing a rustic finish and can do a small bit at a time, because almost as soon as I started I had bad pain in the heal of my hand, the bit between my thumb and my wrist and tingling numbness in my other fingers.

repeating systems carpel tunnel

hi there
about 6 months ago i had the injections in both wrists. one done twice but now have the pins & needles feeling in both again & going up my arm. have tried the surport straps & the routine which was explained. but still that feeling & losing strengh in hands. was told to contact you again with any prob i wait to hear from you many thanks.

Post summer update

Following last telephone conversation 22/4/12 .A second injection or re-assessment
was suggested,as wrist pain appears to have returned to prior injection level, what
action do you now advise?

Newly diagnosed - 1 week of wearing splint to right hand at night.

Hi, I was diagnosed with CTS on 27th September with level 3/6 severity. I was experiencing waking up two or three times each night with pins and needles and a degree of knumbness to fingers right hand and some pain near elbow. After one week of wearing splint to bed have not awoken at all, just experienced mild knumbness in middle two fingers on some mornings. So, quite positive report at the moment. I will go ahead and book local steroid injection today and see what transpires. I wish to be treated as I do not want my condition to deteriorate.

Trouble searching website

Dear Dr Bland, since your last response to me on 6/08/12 http://www.carpal-tunnel.net/node/331. I've repeatedly tried to search the forum to no avail.
Every search word, even searching for Dr Bland or Carpal Tunnel, returns with;
•Check if your spelling is correct.
•Remove quotes around phrases to match each word individually: "blue smurf" will match less than blue smurf.
•Consider loosening your query with OR: blue smurf will match less than blue OR smurf.

My CTS

Dear Dr Bland

I had my appointment with you on 1st March 2012 for a suspected carpal tunnel syndrome.

At the time of my visit I had the numbness and tingling in my left hand and just slightly in the thumb and forefinger of my right hand.

I was fitted with a splint for both hands and since that time have been wearing them continuously every night (and for a while in the morning at the beginning). it has made a lot of difference and I am pleased to say that only occasionally do I ever experience any symptoms in either hand during the day or night.
