Pain in new locations Post Cortisone Injection

Hi

I had re-constructive surgery when I was 17 on my right thumb do to a rare form of tendinitis where the tendon is too large for the joint in my wrist. I am currently 34 and have had no serious issues with it since.

I had a child in July of 2016 and I noticed pins and needles in both my right and left pinkie, ring and middle finger in September 2016. I also had burning sensations while sleeping regularly. There was no pain just swelling and pins and needles during the day. Please note I had no symptoms while pregnant and there were no complications from the emergency C-Section.

request for a referral of US CT specialists and a question about CT

I'm a 44 y.o. female who first got CT symptoms almost three years ago during pregnancy with twins. I had both numbness and pain in my hand and wrist. Almost two years ago, I had a steroid injection, which helped me with the pain. The numbness disappeared by itself several weeks after the birth of the twins. During the following two years, I tried to do strength exercise wearing wrist protectors to avoid injuring the wrists more, but had to give up on yoga exercises. The pain was gone and I didn't think about CT anymore.

Thumb, middle, and ring finger are number after surgery

I think this was discussed before, but I can't find that post. I had surgery on both hands two weeks ago. My left hand is great. The thumb, middle, and ring finger of my right hand are numb. The fingers are also cold. My doctor really didn't give me any reason for this when I saw him this week. He just said to give it time. The loss of sensation and movement is not getting better. I can't type well at work, and it affects everything I do. What would cause this and what can I do?

Post-op concern

Bilateral CTS for >10yrs. Dx NCS (L): severe; (R) moderate but 'complicated' by mild mid-line palmar paraesthesia over thenar / hypothenar eminences. Bilateral open CT release 3/52 previous. Both transverse ligs. demonstrated at surgery to be fully resected prox & dist. Underlying basis of problem: morphological. (R) required dissection through substantial thenar muscles that had crossed the midline. (?bleed) Prompt post-op bilateral resolution of nocturnal Sx. (a real delight!) Recovery (L): v.nice healing, v.minimal swelling, some incisional tenderness.

CTS and redness around the wrist

Hi,

My girlfriend has developed CTS a month ago. She's using a splint.

She's now in an other city and today she says there's some redness aroud the hand and wrist.

What is this, is it an emergency situation, what can be done?

"Sore paw"

In the course of my web research I have found your excellent website.
I'm a veterinary surgeon who works with large and small animals. My work requires everything from fine, detailed surgery to dealing with the complexities of cows calving, etc. I am also required to operate high revolution dental equipment.

CTS - Post Op Open Surgery Concerns....

THIS WAS POSTED BY ACCIDENT TO "WEBSITE FEEDBACK".....
49 yr old female, profession involves computer use 8-10 hrs/day for 20 yrs. I also have medical training, and after yrs of research, sleeping w/splints nightly for 10 yrs, steroid injections, & recent NCS I knew surgery my best option. I had Left hand (non-dominate) surgery on 12/15/16 so I could continue through holiday season, then Right hand on 12/28/16. Both hands open surgery release.

confusion about symptoms

I am a 38 year old female.

I have had night time numbness and tingling in both my hands since my late teens but it never caused me too much bother until just over a year and a half ago when I started to also get searing burning pain in my hands several times a night which could only be relived by sitting upright or getting up and walking around. This was around 6 months after starting to garden regularly (20 plus hrs a week) after a career change from learning support in a school.

Pain and weakness in my wrists several years after carpal tunnel release

I had carpal tunnel release on my right hand in August 2008 and my left hand in July 2014.

The numbness and original pain is gone. Although, in both wrists, I still have sharp and nearly excruciating pain. This is especially true if I have done any type of heavy lifting but, it also happens with seemingly no catalyst. I have no numbness or tingling that originally occurred with CTS. The pain I am experiencing completely different.

Is this common?

Is there more information I can provide to help you advise?

Thank you

Severe CTS and pregnancy - any advise appreciated!

I have severe CTS and writing this is difficult so I will endeavour to keep it brief. I have had symptoms of increasing severity for about 8 years. I have avoided steroids and surgery for as long as possible, but a few months ago decided it was time to take some action due to the intensity of pain and P&N, also the frequency of waking at night. Shortly after making this decision I fell pregnant, which has made symptoms worse.
