Have i done the right thing?

Too late now as had carpel tunnel release on right hand yesterday. Symptoms started a year ago, tingling, numbness and excruciating burning pain at night. NCS showed moderate CTS in both hands, but how reliable are these studies? Burning passed and other symptoms settled to mild tingling. I was called for surgery but was unsure whether to proceed. Concerned about nerve damage I consented to the procedure. I'm now worried if I was right, is it possible CTS can go away? Worried about pillar pain too. Too late for right hand, bt what about left?

BI LATERAL CTS

My CTS (right hand)was confirmed last July and I was to have it operated on last year. I then had a very bad car crash in August when my car a soft top, skidded off road and rolled several times. I sustained a broken collar bone and broken shoulder blade and severe lacerations to my scalp (scalped) i made a good recovery and surgery was finally carried out on my right hand on April 7th, prior to whhich I suddenly started to have excruciating pain in the hand during the night. Crushing, burning pain which lasted for long periods.

Good Morning,

Bilateral carpal tunnel release surgery two weeks post op

I had my surgery done two weeks ago today. I was badly bruised but since I am a diabetic I figured that was probably par for the course. I am also 56 years old which adds to that issue. I felt as though the surgery went well and I had help for several days and so I felt like it was easier than I expected to be. However the last couple days I have been experiencing the same amount of pain that I had pre-op. The pain is keeping me up at night and there is extreme numbness in both arms and hands. I am not taking the pain pills I was given I took them for about the first week to 10 days.

I live in Cornwall and had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand in December last year which was very successful and on my left hand 7 weeks ago. I am a secretary and returned to work 3 weeks after surgery but then 5 weeks after surgery started to get awful tingling right over my hand and have to hold my hand down to my side to relieve the tingling and my two middle fingers and thumb already numb from before and after the surgery are much worse and now have pain particularly in the top inch of my middle finger.

Using splints after a steroid injection

Simple question. I have had a steroid injection and am in a lot less pain, but it is still there. Should I continue to use the splint?

don't feel I am the first person to ask this but I cannot find the answer in the discussions.

Hi,

Probably best I start with a bit about my CTS...

Its a pretty new new diagnosis, I saw my Doctor on Friday. He said he is referring me to a consultant to 'Get to the bottom of things'.... he also urged me to go and see a physiotherapist first thing Monday morning (thats today). The physiotherapist made his assessment, he said he is referring me to the consultant as an 'urgent' case and that there is nothing that physiotherapy can do for me.

Post surgical success

Hello Doc, Just like to say my surgery was great. It was "a classic case", my surgeon noted. I was awake the entire time with only a local in my left arm and they wouldn't let me watch. The anesthesiologist took a image of the open incision and sent it to me by email. I found it extremely helpful to be awake for the procedure. When testing the anesthetic with a scalpel, I could let him know if the freezing had taken effect. He had to have closer local put in right by the incision sight.

3 trigger fingers?

My dominant hand started hurting about 2 weeks ago. But for a month it had been going numb at my finger tips. I had 1 finger sticking. Now 3. I run my own lawncare business. Weedeating I believe is what is making this happen. Going 2 a specialist in 9 days. I'm taping my fingers and icing. Just looking to see what everyone thinks?

How painful is an EMG test on hands?

Will have one on may 15 and quiet anxious about it. On a scale of 0 to 10, how painful is it? Does it hurt worse than a blood test, a bit worse, much worse, somehow wrose? How long does it take? I don't worry so much about the shocks as I'm worried about the needles. My doctor referred me to check corporal tunnel syndrome.
