Carpal tunnel topics
My doctor says my symptoms do not make sense, help!
I had endoscopic cts surgery. Right hand was done 4 and a half months ago, left was done 3 weeks after. I work in a environment that is very physical and use my hand consistently. Since my operation I feel as if my symptons have worsened. I no longer wake up with the same 'pins and needle' tingling but I constantly wake up from my hands 'falling asleep.' It's a different type on tingle and I often feel it throughout the day. I have trouble holding my cell phone, or even blow drying my hair because my thumb and first finger will get a burning sensation.
Recently Diagnosed CTS
Yesterday 3/3/16 I was diagnosed with CTS grade 4 right hand grade 1 left. I was given splints to wear at night, but found the pain was worse when I am unable to move my hands, is this normal?

Will it be hard to do simple things like make food, laundry, ect. Just wondering if anobody has gone through it and what to expect. I am also so wondering if there are things I can do to prepare and make the first few post-op weeks easier? Any input is apprectiated

Apologies if you've answered this before. I used the search function and read quite a few threads hoping to get a quick answer without bothering anyone but everyone seems to be talking about swelling which has been slow to go down post op which mine isn't

Patient feedback on carpal tunnel medical information
Hi
I hope you do not mind me posting here, I was wondering if I could ask your help as patients with experience of carpal tunnel syndrome. We write the medical topics that are published on the NICE CKS website here: http://cks.nice.org.uk/#?char=A.
The topics are written for doctors and other healthcare professionals working in primary care, and are used both as a learning resource and as a point-of care resource during patient consultations.
Pain Relief at Night
Hello! I've recently been diagnosed with CTS and I am having very bad pain at night such as waking up every hour with intense numbness and shooting, throbbing pain up my arm. The pain subsides some when i stand up and pace the room for several minutes but then I wake up again an hour later. I tried sleeping sitting up but the pain does not go away. This has been going on for the last 3 nights. I've been taking high doses of ibuprofen but to no avail. I've been wearing a splint brace at night and throughout the day for several days.
Post Surgery Usage
Hi
I am currently unable to do the gardening and any repetitive chores/activities as this brings on a CTS 'attack' which then takes weeks to calm down. I have moderate CTS in my left hand and of late due to undertaking too much lifting find my hand is mildly numb and goes number when driving. I am not sure whether to have the surgery and if I did would I be able to do repetitive chores/activities or will that bring the CTS back?

Update
I have seen the local pain management team and they feel I need to go back and see the hand surgeon as they feel I may need a operation to sort out the pain and the numbness. I feel in being past around from person to person. Am I allowed to see another consultant as felt I was not getting any where with the other one. Mark
