return of symtoms

Dear Dr Bland, I came to you in October 2014 and subsequently had a steriod injection on the 3rd of November at a clinic just outside Ashford. The results were fantastic and all pain from my hands disappeared. However about a month ago the symptoms started to reappear and over the last week have returned with avengance. I am unable to sleep at night and i have a shooting pain in the middle finger of my left hand when a stroking motion is made.

Appointment put back

Hi,
Was due to see consultant on the 22nd October but today have had letter to say they have had to cancel and am now booked for the 12th November
. Was hoping for what they might do to help me as pain is doing me in, sleep pattern not good and it's giving me problems at work. Have had both hands operated on and it did work, but since December last year it's been giving me problems. My gp has done injections in both hands. Will keep you updated Dr J Bland

Can Carpal Tunnel be related to Prolapsed Disc?

Hi Dr Bland. Long time no speak. I cant remember last time I attended your clinic....without waffling on too much I have just had mri scan results & been diagnosed with a large Prolapsed Disc in my neck (C3 C4) which is impinging on my spinal cord.. Whilst I have been in pain with this neck issue my Carpal Tunnel has improved loads. Recently my neck pain has improved & I am not taking so many pain killers and my Carpal Tunnel has returned.

Help and hopefully advice

Firstly i'd like to say what a brilliant site this is, some very helpful and useful information on here.

About 4.5 years ago I had bilateral decompression performed just before Christmas, symptoms were quite bad (my definition) in both hands and were making working very hard - was then a self employed satellite engineer. Right hand was always worse than left hand, and this was backed up by the NCS results.

Post-surgery Pain

Hello Dr. Bland, I had bilateral open CTR one month ago and I still have considerable pain that I am increasingly concerned about. In addition to the pain, it is causing me anxiety and would very much appreciate your opinion on my recovery status. My surgery appeared to be without complication. I had what I considered fairly minimal pain in the 2-3 days post-op. The incision site was quite sore and I basically couldn't use my thumbs, pinkies, and ring fingers. I also felt stinging pain proximal to the incision when bending my wrists or fingers more than just a little bit.

Waiting

Hello..I'm new to this site and I'm just looking to see if anyone else has had the same symptoms as I have. .I am waiting to have a new version conduction test but that won't be for another couple of months. .
These are my sympims:
Right hand dominant so I could see why this could happen.
Pain or burning on inside of wrist (like where your fingers would go to check your pulse)
Pain in thumb
Pain and fullness in forearm that sometimes radiates up to shoulder
Tingling in fingers not pinky
Dry skin on ring finger. .

Research

Has any research been undertaken to improve the hand and finger nerve function using electrical stimulation? Recent research seems to indicate that wound healing is improved by using small electrical signals and I read that some companies are planning to produce plasters with small electrical sources inside to speed up the healing. I am an electrical engineer with a great interest in getting actively involved in some research using different electrical signals to try to stimulate and or improve nerve function on a long term basis.

Alexander Technique + Systemic Causation

First let me say that this website is an exceptional resource. There is an incredible amount of information out there on the internet about CTS -- most of it contradictory and confusing.

I'm planning to share my story in another post when I have more time to write it up (amateur jazz guitar/full time office worker with light CTS symptoms for 3 months now), but I wanted to ask some questions since I hadn't seen them receive conversation yet.

Dr Bland

Just an update on my progress of my carpal tunnel symptoms. Having worn the wrist splints for about a week at night only they did help but not totally eradicate the problem and I found them uncomfortable. I received a cancellation appointment for the steroid injection for 19 August at Charing surgery with Doctor Warrilow who was very good in explaining what was to happen and the outcome. The injections were totally painless and as Doctor Warrilow had said after 2 - 3 days the symptoms have been resolved and appear to be successful to which I am very grateful for.

4 weeks post op and wound bleeding

I had carpal tunnel surgery on the 4th August. My stitches have just dissolved, and the wound has started to bleed is this normal?
I also can not touch my fingers with my thumb , any idea if this is normal at 4 weeks post op
many thanks for any input
