Hi, ive just been diagnosed with cts. I broke my wrist in 2000. I picked up a box at work around Christmas times and thought my wrist had gone again. After a week or so it was ok again.but since then I have had numbness tingling and pain in my left hand, waking me up at night.I went to my doctor early April who arranged for me to see a doctor at my local hospital, who arranged for me to go for for a C N S. He gave me a score of 4plus. All this has been done within a month, brilliant service. Im now waiting to see what happens next.my symptoms have got worse day by day.

Electrical tests for CTS

i have symptoms which can be ascribed to both CTS and an impingement at the cervical level. MRI confirms this at the cervical level. Recent electrical tests also show moderate to severe CTS. My question is do the CTS electrical tests provide a definitive answer. Alternatively can a restriction further up cause positive CTS electrical tests?

Angry to get diagnosis

I have experienced tingling, numbness, and some pain in my fingers/hands for the past few years finding my fine motor skills becoming increasingly non-existent in my right hand. I have mentioned it to doctors and pharmacists and been told that it was probably due to the side-effects of some of my meds, particularly those for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Sixteen months ago we retired from Essex to North Wales and so, of course, I have a new GP.

Low score on Qustionnaire, but worrying symptoms

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone might be able to provide some insight on my atypical case ....

I had a sprain injury to the thumb/palm/wrist area (not determined which tendons) and about a week after injury I started having numbness/loss of sensation/tingling in my thumb and first finger. At first it was transient, and as my pain in the area from injury resolved, so did the numbness/loss of sensation/tingling. But then I reinjured the tendons, and then the numbness etc. came back, and it's a little big worse now than it was the first time around.

Painful wrist?!?!

Hi I had carpal tunnel surgery 7 days ago and I think it's gone ok! The think is now I'm having pain in the right side of my wrist? The pain is very bad and kind of takes my breath away and make me feel quite sick! It's like a constantly pulsating pain that goes and then is back almost immediately? I didn't have this before surgery and it doesn't matter if I keep my wrist still or move it the pain is always there.
I'm not sure what could be causing this, any suggestions?

Been diagnosed but not sure what to do in mean time.

I am 20 years old and a pianist at University. The majority of my family have had CTS and had the operation and i have been diagnosed, i have several piano exams in the next few weeks and am starting to practice for my dissertation. My hands ache and hurt a lot in the evenings and i get severe pins and needles and shooting pains whilst playing. Its really bothering me and also affecting my studies as i usually practice for 4 or so hours a day. I have been taking rest days but they still seem to hurt and ache.

Update on CTS

Hello everyone havent been on for a while, but thought i would update you all... originally had the CTS in my left hand in Dec last year...its 4 months since i had theoperation, having physio on it as its still swollen and red on the wound site. Having electric shock feeling from my elbow to my wrist, on a morning i cannot form a fist, as my wirst and fingers are stiff... Also my physio thinks i have tennis elbow, and tendinitous (probably spelt that wrong) in my wrist and thumb. he also cant understand why my dr has left it this long until they have got physio for my hand.

severe pain 7 weeks post surgery

Hi.. I had a release on my right hand with no problems so went ahead with the left hand. It is now 7 weeks post surgery and have run into problems. I have severe pain from my wrist to elbow constantly. No tingling in my fingers but the pain I used to have when clenching my first has returned. I am seeing my consultant on May 10th and don't know what to expect.

Any advice?

Regards

1 Year post op. Unexpected issue.

I had bilateral carpal tunnel release 13 and 11 months ago. I have been very pleased with the result. Certainly not a 100% cure but I have been very happy. I still have stiffness in my fingers every morning both hands and do suffer from some tingling and numbness but nothing that impedes on anything I do and have presumed I am also very sensitive to these symptoms when they occur.

?bilateral recurrence

I had open CT releases (L 14 months ago, right 12 months ago). My symptoms were said to be classic, and had + phalens, 'mild' NCS abN on left with normal NCS on right. Also had a trigger thumb treated with steroid injections x 2 over the last year. Preop I would have described my symptoms as mild EXCEPT for at work. my job is very hand intense (repetitive small movements 8hr/day) and my pain was quite significant with hand use. Initial surgical response excellent with complete resolution of symptoms.
