Carpal tunnel topics
1 Year post op. Unexpected issue.
I had bilateral carpal tunnel release 13 and 11 months ago. I have been very pleased with the result. Certainly not a 100% cure but I have been very happy. I still have stiffness in my fingers every morning both hands and do suffer from some tingling and numbness but nothing that impedes on anything I do and have presumed I am also very sensitive to these symptoms when they occur.
?bilateral recurrence
I had open CT releases (L 14 months ago, right 12 months ago). My symptoms were said to be classic, and had + phalens, 'mild' NCS abN on left with normal NCS on right. Also had a trigger thumb treated with steroid injections x 2 over the last year. Preop I would have described my symptoms as mild EXCEPT for at work. my job is very hand intense (repetitive small movements 8hr/day) and my pain was quite significant with hand use. Initial surgical response excellent with complete resolution of symptoms.
Has anyone had their fingers lock??
May be you can relate. Had anyone experience where you fingers lock when you close them? When closing the right hand and I'm trying to open it again. Inner finger and pinky won't normally stretched like the rest. I'll have to manually stretch them with my other hand. Only time I can strech them by its own if I put pressure on my palm. Has anyone experience this?
Should I proceed with CTS release surgery on my second hand?
Firstly, thank you for providing this website and support forum. I have read through the content in detail and tried to absorb and interpret the information, in obtaining a better understanding of my CTS condition and trying to establish the best way forward.
My situation is that 10 weeks ago I had release surgery in response to severe carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome on my left (non-dominant) side. NCS test results also indicate I have mild carpal tunnel syndrome and mild ulnar neuropathy at elbow on my right (dominant) side.
Diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel and being told I need surgery but not convinced??
Hi I have been diagnosed last year by my GP with Carpal Tunnel and he also thought that I may have De Quervain's tenosynovitis. I have had 2 shots of Cortosone steroid injections. The first one was great last October as it took all the pain away but by christmas it started creeping back and then I was in a lot of pain again so I had another shot of it in the wrist again in January but this time it didn't work. It has taken some of the wrist pain away but am still in a lot of pain with my thumb and palm.

I drive 18 wheelers for a national "package shipping" company. In November 2014 I fell out the back of a trailer while delivering some freight to a customer. I attempted to catch myself and severely broke my wrist and dislocated my distal and unla bones in my arm. My physical therapist says it's the worst wrist break she's ever seen. I have pictures of the x-rays if you want to see them.
Carpo tunnel Surgery
I am waiting on a call from the plastic surgeon for my date for surgery. I have been dealing with my carpo tunnel for 10 years now and in the last year it has gotten tremendously worse. I fight for hours on end to regain the feeling in my hands. I am nervous as I have never ever had a surgery before. I have a few questions and was hoping to get some feedback from those who have gone through it or have a strong understanding as to the procedure and the recovery.
Is it better to go under or use local anesthetic?
Will they cast it for a short period of time? (im a klutzy girl)
Pain is back??!!??!!
So i'm 20 yrs old (young to have this to begin with) and am getting a little worried . I was Diagnosed with CTS last year Oct and had my surgery in Dec after a failed attempt at doing a steroid injection (reacted adversely to it) and many MANY painkillers that just weren't doing anything.
Symptoms improved, no surgery?
Hello, I have had the symptoms of carpal tunnel since last April 2014, but the symptoms have changed and I'd like to not have surgery though I've been advised to have it by a friend who is an orthopaedic surgeon. Last year I had very bad numbness and tingling especially through the night which would wake me up and hurt a lot. I saw a physiotherapist but it didn't help. Now almost a year later, I don't get any numbness, only a bit of tingling when I've used it a lot, but it does ache a lot.
