6 weeks post op - still in pain

Report from my surgery was that the median nerve was severely compressed by the flexor retinaculum, pale and ischemic. It had been compressed (undiagnosed by Newcastle Australia's 3rd world medical system) for more than a year. The operation was done in Sydney by a neurosurgery department. I'm 6 weeks post of, and yet to see any improvement. Still sore at the wound site. Follow up next week. Worried by the lack of progress.

So scared!

Hi. I am due to have carpal tunnel decompression on Monday. I have read horror stories about it and am really scared. How many would recommend I go ahead. I have CTS in both hands, I am having my right hand operated on and then the left 6 weeks later. Can anyone tell me exactly what I am letting myself in for?

update re charlieboy and mark-deadspace

Had my nerve conduction test at Kings and am just waiting to receive the report. Was advised that injections may help as all read had the decompression on both hands.
Any advise I could do to help with the pain as really struggled at work today. Can I splint if needed to help at work

Symptoms reduced - should I have the operation?

I would appreciate an opinion. I've had Carpal tunnel symptoms, always variable - mild to bad, for a few years, plus several trigger digits, most right/dominant hand but also left. Injections have worked well, but eventual worn off. Autumn 2014 symptoms very bad/painful, could hardly write and shaking my hand out all day. Had electrical test at hospital and showed I was "Moderate" and was recommend for surgery. Surgeon said already some muscle wasting for both thumbs.

Pain 3 months after carpal tunnel release

Hi looking for some help

I had crs on 6th October 2014 in my right hand. My symptoms before were bad tingling, trigger digits and pain and a sensation that I can beat describe as a feeling of an elastic band snapping in my forearm. As soon as I had the surgery the tingling dissapeared and so did the trigger digits.
I am now 3 months Post op and still in a lot of pain right up to my elbow. The pain is mainly in my wrist, below my thumb and up to my elbow .

I had CTS in both hands years ago. Being in several physically demanding jobs, as far as my hands are concerned, I have had residual pain and weakness in my hands, trigger fingers in two fingers and weak achy wrists that crack upon movement since the surgery. When I am active, I am just a bit achy, but as soon as I am just relaxing, my hands swell and I wake up numb up to my elbows. I am always aware of my hands which is more than annoying. Just wondering if anyone else has this kind of stuff going on after a corrective surgery.

Carpel Tunnel Surgery over a year

This is my first time on this forum so I'm hoping somebody can assist me in the right direction.I had CTS surgery on my left hand over a year ago and after surgery and I woke up I knew it had gone bad. I instantly had no feeling in my thumb, index finger and my thumb would not oppose. Although the doctor sent me to TP, which was basically exercises, the numbness has spread to my middle and fourth fingers. The back side of my hand is now growing numb too. The thumb muscle has atrophied and all opposition is lost and I do not dare to even try to hold anything in my left hand.

Advice please

Hi. All

I have osteoarthritis and have had surgery on both thumbs Trapeziectomy a couple of years ago . For the past few months my left thumb has been painful with a tingling sensation also index finger hurts . I have seen GP Who thinks could be CTS now I have the feeling of the pain all up my arm into neck causing me to feel like there's a nerve trapped in neck .This causes me to feel dizzy when lying down for a few minutes . Can someone tell me if these symptoms can be all to do with CTS .

Thank you
