tried the splint

Hello,
After my appointment in Canterbury on Monday 10th March 2014, I have tried the splint on the left hand for a month now and it is still burning and numb when I wake on the morning, I think I would like to have the operation please. Could you please give me information on how to go about this. Many thanks Mrs Christine Gilhooly

after surgery

after having surgery on 29th march I was pain free straight away on my right hand. had stitches out 12th april all healed & well. but my left hand is getting worse & in quite a bit of pain.

problems again

Hello Dr Bland
It is some time since I have contacted you following very successful surgery on my left hand In Jan 2013. My right hand had been good following steroid injection some time before the surgery on my left, and has been so until now, but now the symptoms have returned and I wondered if it is possible to come for another injection? Although the surgery was successful on my left it is still something I would prefer to avoid if possible, at least for a while yet, especially as this last injection must have lasted about 2 years. Please advise.
Many thanks

Pain following surgery

I had CT release on my left hand on 15 March. The stitches were removed two weeks later. I returned to work this week (office based/computer work). Following the surgery, the CT pain has gone, but I have shooting pains in my wrist, ring and middle finger and thumb and thumb pad, also up my forearm. The scar area is still very red/purple and very sensative and sore to touch. I have restricted movement to my wrist and hand, despite doing the exercises and it will ache at the end of the day. I am driving now (manuel car) however it is still quite painful.

wrist supports

hi guys,i have the wrist supports which I wear at night as suggested and the pins n needles feeling I used to get has pretty much gone.
Does this mean they are curing the problem or just temporarily relieving the symptoms?

What are the dangers of using the hand too much after surgery

Dear Dr Bland I had surgery, performed by Dr Rine, on my left hand, 11 days ago. I have been driving a little bit, and I have also lifted up my three month old grandson a few times - he weighs about 17lbs, and I am just wondering if this could have caused any damage (although I have tried to take his weight with mainly my right hand). In fact I am not experiencing any pain or problems but wondering if this kind of movement could precipitate any problems. How is the ligament's healing process affected in cases where too much pressure is put on the affected hand? Thank you Elaine

Steroid injections

Hello

On Thursday 27th March I had a Steroid injection, and was asked to update you on the result.

unfortunately the injection has not worked, my hand is still the same.

Post Carpal Tunnel

I had an appointment with Dr Bland on 17th Feb 2014, then had an appointment with Dr J Miles on 17th March 2014 when I had injections in both wrists. The effect on my right hand was almost immediate, my left hand has improved a lot but still getting pins and needles from time to time. No splints worn at night now though and a good night sleep can be had. Dr Miles has also advised operation on both wrists should be performed, confirming Dr Blands first opinion

post opp recovery

Hi Dr Bland
Surgery took place at canterbury on Friday 28th, early days yet, but all tingerling sensations i had before decompresion
are still there,
i am posible thinking it maybe because there are signs of swelling at fingers and i would think under the dressing.

Chris
